  • I understand through this module that risks and assumptions are a thoughtful way of highlighting a project's pitfalls.
The identified risks can actually help towards better planning by ensuring that minute details that were not covered during the input and planning stages are considered.

  • Risk and assumptions are a major consideration during the project logframe. Risk are potential intrusions towards our project outcomes and goals. Assumptions are the biases we have that might affect our projects. Identifying risks and assumptions will prepare our team better to develop alternative approaches to our goal.

  • Anza Mapema Project might be having risks such as:
1.poor hygiene leading to the spread of illnesses between the staffs and the clients if not well recognized,
2.misuse of funds that make the project fall abruptly due to oppressed laws amended in the project before.
3.the short and unsupported confidentialities of the staff might create chaos from the clients to the workers, non-acceptance of clients to the Anza Mapema project and many more.
4.Disunity between staff and the clients might arise rapidly since such participants were not recognized and then oppressed rather than accepted as a usual living being.
Some of the assumptions in the Anza Mapema Projects are like:
1.In the data department, anyone skilled of a statistical package is willing to volunteer so as to teach or tutor other on them for a desired and proper knowledge as life continues.
2.Any mistake found in the Anza Mapema Project can be submitted in the debriefing meeting so as to enhance the reduced rate of problems proclaimed.

  • Risks and assumptions are to be minimize in a project for a better output, impact and outcome

  • To what consequential dimension (value) should I consider the risk of assumption during planning or analysis,

  • As far as my understanding is concerned, I now consider the pre-indentification of the risks that can occur during the implementation of the project and obviously the assumptions must be generated beforehand to achieve maximum results. By doing so, even during the implementation, one can also work on mitigating the possible risks.

  • in the process of monitoring and one realizes that there are risks that have impacted on the project, i think the next activity should be risk mitigation and management, however, why is it not part of the log frame, especially the possible identifiable risks?

  • Risk and assumptions that might occur include girls might use money for there neccesary need
business changes that include floactuatin of prince and availability of more loans

  • It is absolutely important that risks and assumptions are thoroughly identified to avoid issues that might lead to the failure of the project.

  • First of all I am really admired how the course is organized, prepared and delivered. Apart from that in terms of risks and assumptions, are there some common risks and assumptions or each project has its own circumstances?

  • I now have a better understanding of assumptions and risk. Thus, In other words:
The assumptions describe the situations, events, conditions or decisions which are necessary for the success of the project, but which are largely or completely beyond the control of the project's management.

Risks are events that may have a negative impact on the project.

  • Risks and assumptions are the actions of which we are not sure but which we hope

  • I am learning a lot on M & E

  • I have come to understand that identifying risks and assumptions before one begins any project or even during the project design phase is really really important for a successful project; since one will be able to foresee things that may hinder effective project implementation during the implementation phase.

  • Also, i have now come to know that identifying risks and assumptions is crucial before any project starts off since it plays really a great role in all our projects and could be the reason behind why some projects fail and why others succeed.

  • Risk and assumptions are the unforeseen circumstances that may end up affecting project implementation.

  • Risks are the things outside of your control that might disrupt your plan. Assumptions are your biases, things you believe without evidence. It is imperative to find the risks and assumptions before the project starts.

  • Is it true that the risk is not only a negative risk but also a positive risk?

  • The topic gave me an indepth understanding on Inputs, outputs, outcomes, risks and assumptions and means of verifications.

  • How risk can affect project?

  • A very interesting module in which we are able to question the effectivity of every link.

  • Thank You so much for the wonder topic which not only guided me about the Risk and Assumption but has given me knowledge and command on how better to design my project keeping the risk in my plan which I might be facing during the project and doing assumption to meet the challenges that I will be facing.

  • How better Risks and assumptions be planned to cover the challenges of the project during the implementation phases?

  • What are assumptions in risk assessment?
There are numerous qualitative assumptions in a risk assessment; for example, related to system boundaries, to what consequence dimensions (values) to consider in the analysis, to how a particular consequence should be measured/operationalised, and whether future trend should be included or not

  • The assumptions describe the situations, events, conditions or decisions which are necessary for the success of the project, but which are largely or completely beyond the control of the project's management.

Risks are events that may have a negative impact on the project.

  • I believe every project must at least have an obvious risk that will come out clearly with less effort needed to think or list them

  • Have not been that aware of the importance of making a risks and Assumptions time in the logframe but i see it very important because its will allow quick decision making and not being fully blind and right .

  • How do we work with risk a d assumption in M& E..

  • Whether we like it or not its necessary to apply risk and assumptions in M&E

  • You are right risk and assumptions help a lot in delivering results in M&E

  • things that may cause the project to fail

  • In this section I have learned that risks are the thinks that are out of your control and can disrupt your project while assumptions are things that you believe about your project.
in concluding, it is very important to identified risks and assumptions before the project starts so that you can create powerful way to avoid them.

  • A better project design should be linked to its M&E Plan

  • Risk and assumptions help in tackling future obstacles that might occur. It aids in decision making .

  • This is a great and useful topic so far. We are reminded that in all projects, risks and assumptions are always needed to be considered.

  • I agree, at least those things have to be considered so they don't come as a surprise.

  • Risk must have evidence but assumption don't proved by evidence

  • Yes it's better to identify at the beginning but to be aware with new risks ahead

  • A better way for project success is to be able to identify risk early in each process

  • In this context, a risk is defined as an uncertain threat that, in case of occurring, could have a negative impact in the completion of the Goal or Activity. An assumption, on the other side, is the necessary condition that will enable the successful completion of the Goal or Activity.

  • This course has been very helpful for me in formulating my indicators and other tools such as targets and how the indicators can be measured.

  • Hello everybody How is course going?

  • risks and assumptions are activities that lead to disruption of a project. Before a starts its important to analyse the risks that one may undergo during the implementation of the project.Looking at the risks and assumptions enable us to understand the events and conditions that are unforeseeable .

  • What is the risks you undentified are out of control?

  • Targets are a commitment to reach certain results.

  • Planning for Monitoring and Evaluation for good

  • Risks inform the project implementors of possible challenges that may hinder the success of a funded project. Awareness of possible risks help project managers adjust their plans. Involving targeted population gives a guide to what works and what will not work. Assumptions may lead to loss and failure of a project. For example, assuming that women may benefit from a project without getting their input or carrying out a need assessment may result in a failure of a project.

  • Very helpful insights you guys are giving here

  • participant involvement has several benefits such as buy in of the project by the targeted population, saving time and money. Implementors concentrate on ventures they know will be profitable to the intended population target. So yes, avoiding assumptions through member involvement is very important. Involvement of beneficiaries and taking cognizance of their views is very helpful in achieving goals.

  • You have summed it all. Misuse of funds create mistrust and delays in bringing the change we want to witness in our communities. Lack of participants and stakeholders' involvement derails progress, while assumption is the worst enemy to any development leading to waste of resources and projects that never take off as intended beneficiaries act as spectators.

  • Are enough inputs being provided?
    Yes

How well do your inputs lead to your outputs?
All resources may be available, but the inputs may not guarantee girls' interest in receiving training.

How well do your outputs lead to outcomes?
The use of reusable sanitary pads, coupled with liquid soap for washing will help girls attend school during and after experiencing menstrual cycle.

Are any of the risks or assumptions that you identified hurting your project?
Yes, especially discouragement of girls by family and culture.

Do your inputs produce enough outputs and outcomes?
Not really as there are circumstances beyond the control of the project. For example, the interest of girls on engaging in production of reusable sanitary pads and liquid soap after receiving training.

How well did your project create impact?
More than half (57%) of the target beneficiaries (girls) have remained in school while using reusable sanitary pads. This is an improvement compared to only 39% indicated by baseline.

Did any risks or assumptions hurt this project?
    Yes, particularly family and culture.

Were there any unexpected risks or assumptions?
Yes, especially the resistance of cultural leaders to girls recieving training.

  • Risk is an unexpected outcome that can affect the project,it can be an event that is beyond our control that can negatively impact the project, while Assumptions are our personal beliefs or biases that we have imbibed over the years

  • Risk is an unexpected outcome that can affect the project,it can be an event that is beyond our control that can negatively impact the project, while Assumptions are our personal beliefs or biases that we have imbibed over the years

  • I have learnt that risk and assumption helps us to be able to prepare adequately when coming up with a project so that we can deal with the shortcomings adequately rather than get surprised when they occur.

  • Before starting module 2, I had a little idea on logic framework for M&E, that was cause I read up some materials, but what I never came across was "Risk and Assumptions" and this has given me a good level of insight. Identifying Risk and Assumptions are very important in every M&E logic framework cause it will help me eliminate bias and consider certain factors which I might ignore while creating and M&E logic frame work.

Unrealistic targets, are targets that are not feasible. It is important to ensure a project's indicator or indicators are realistic, that was it is achievable. Realistic targets would prove to donors how much work a team is set to achieve if resources are made available.

  • What is the importance of assessing the risks and assumptions of a project?

  • Risks and Assumptions are those processes that might hurt a project or lead a project to fail when not considered.
Although there is a difference between an assumtion and a risk.
An assumtion can be considered as anything without no real proof of existence, but a risk is any situation or matter that can lead to a failure.
For example, we decided to cook on a fire in a bush, the risk could be that ourfire leads to a real burning the place. It is supported by an evidence bush and fire makes fire.
Those two topics help us to make the project real .

  • I have learnt that risk and assumption helps us to be able to prepare adequately when coming up with a project so that we can deal with the shortcomings adequately rather than get surprised when they occur.

  • Risks and assumptions are ways to know what barriers you stand to fave and what kinda of conclusions you've drawn that could potentially affect the progress of the project. The presence of these on the log frame is for you to make changes in your project design so that they cannot affect the progress of the project or to mitigate the effects of the risks and assumptions

  • Identifying risks and assumptions during M&E planning is very vital as it helps in identifying gaps which would otherwise affect the projects success.
During this module, i have come to realize that however much one looks at the impacts, outcomes, inputs and outputs, one should never forget to also high light the possible risks and assumptions

  • Risks and Assumptions should be part of the project design so as to inform us on what can go wrong.

  • Risks and assumptions are the keys to avoid problems during the project. We should indicate them before starting the project by asking ourselves about all things that might disrupt our plan.

  • Identifying and dealing with risks and assumptions before and during project design phase is a factor in successfully implementing a project

  • risks and assumptions are different things, example assumptions are the unrealistic view which you can.t approve it may occur while risks are situations while will your project may face by figuring some evidence opposing to your project and preparing solution you will use to tackle it.

  • risks are the things out of my control that might disrupt my plan. Assumptions are my biases.

  • The key thing to remember is that the same statement might be an assumption or a risk depending on the circumstances of your particular project. In fact, assumptions can be simply viewed as low-level risks.

  • Identifying the risk and assumptions in every stage of your project summary.

  • The risk we might face is having Lost to Follow up(LTFU) for those who are on ART drugs and also no willingness to continue the medication

  • Risks are things outside your control that might disrupt your plan and therefore affect your project.
Risks can be identified by making assumptions on some of the factors that could possibly hinder the project from progressing.
Planing for risks and assumptions helps to identify and understand events and conditions that are unforeseeable. Such events might affect the implementation of your project.

  • Yes it is important to know all the risks

  • En el proyecto, uno de los riesgos es la ausencia del personal a trabajar cuyo impacto sería el retraso en la entrega del proyecto, una de las suposiciones es que el personal se encuentra poco comprometido con su trabajo.

  • Risks and Assumptions

  • Risks and Assumptions should be applied to all stages of project design phases. In fact, we can avoid the project being disrupted during the design phase by asking what are the risks and assumptions that may occur?

  • at the beginning of project you have to avoid any risk that will be facing your project and you make research to prevent risks and take in to the account external factors can become .

  • Maybe we found so many risks and assumptions in our project, my question is how to choose the main risk from the lists?

  • Risk management is a central part of any organization or project. Its focus is the
assessment of significant risks and the implementation of suitable responses in a
continuous process; “it increases the probability of success and reduces both the
probability of failure and the level of uncertainty associated with achieving the
objectives of the organization [or project].

    Assumptions are the unproven connections
between levels in a design hierarchy, theory of
    change, or the project context.

  • Do all projects need to have positive effect and a large scale impacts.

  • This is great, keep up.

  • Risks are the things that are outside of our control.Assumptions are the things that you belive with evidence.Does MoV point out for risks and assumptions .

  • Does we meet The things that we don't expect risks and assumptions?

  • Which ones are out side of our control in health project?

  • Well understood about the importance of including risks and assumptions in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

  • Based on the previous experiences some risks have been identified for the completion of the project. One of the major risk is the geographical barrier. In addition, some of the other risks are lack of necessary information in the health facility, negligence of field researchers, possibility of questionnaire not matching the latest health system, unavailability of respondents, exaggerated information and loss of information among others.

  • Risks and assumptions a are those that can make the project to not to achieve its intended purpose.these can either be on input, output, . however they need to be identified earlier in course of project design so that solutions to them are also made earlier

  • d'autres extrants sont nécessaires pour atteindre les résultats
d'autres hypothèses et risques vont analyser ces activités et résultats

  • In log frame design, the risks and assumptions are two sides of a coin: risks are framed as potential negatives, while assumptions are framed positively.

  • Done! I understood well how to create Logical framework of the project by listing impact, outcome, outputs and inputs, writing down the project summary and risk and assumption for each concept.

  • I understand risks and assumptions to be obstacles that the project might face in implementation. It is important to identify risks in the design phase and know ways to handle them.

  • Risks and Assumptions are critical as it helps to think through the potential disruption while implementing the projects and it also helps in reducing our own biases .

  • Risks and Assumptions will enable monitoring and evaluation to work according plan and identify impending problems and seek a way to them before they become uncontrollable.
