The two ideas of MEH team members are good beginning. So, before they start, they can think and choose clearly the goals of project. This can be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and timed). Then, they can choose how to collect information or data; how to measure the progress of MEH. That help them to know how project can be improved.

I can already feel this method is a great way of learning this course. I am excited to see what comes next.

This is a fascinating start off. Just reading the story of the two projects GOODS and MEH, and looking at the definitions of the key terms - monitoring, evaluation, data and bias, I am already beginning to visualize the critical significance of M&E, and it's relevance in project coordination and implementation. The information collected through monitoring reveals gaps or issues, which require resources to address. Without M&E, it wouldn't be clear what areas need to be a priority. Resources could easily be wasted in one area that isn't the source of the issue.

The first importance of monitoring and evaluation is that it helps one Measure progress, this is because the team has a clear goal and objective thus making it easy to measure there progress. Secondly it is easy to collect information, and depending on the project, information can be collected in different ways for example through questionnaires, interviews, focus group and document review. The data collected is used for both monitoring and evaluation. Thirdly through monitoring, the team is able to notice a problem very fast and provide a suitable solution. the solutions provided can be both long term or short term. most importantly the team is bale to evaluate if the changes in outcome observed area directly linked to the project. Additionally, when writing a report to the donors they are able to state clearly the problems encountered and how they overcome them and what should be done to avoid the problem during the next project.

From my point of view, M&E are important throughout the life of the project because Monitoring permits to know if activities go straigh-out to the goals defined at the conceptual phase. It hepls to collect many data at different time and phases of the project, which would lead to have a global vision of the project, and will serve to evaluate locally and or globally the project at different stages.

The GOOD project has measurable outcomes which are key to evaluation. The other good thing about the project is that it provides a way to monitor the progrssion of the project. As defined in the preprogram questions, monitoring is a continuous process done throughout the life span of a program. This can be equated to tasting your food as you prepare: is their enough salt, do we have enough water to simmer your food.
