Relationship between output and outcome in our projects
I would like to know how best we can improve our output which we have control over, so that we can get our desired outcomes
my thinking is that we should always have control over the project outputs. Other events over which we cannot have control may affect/delay outputs achievement, these are what we call risks. Also, regular monitoring purpose is to improve outputs, to lead the project to success...
please, let me know what you think about my reply...
Outputs tell the story of what you produced or your organization's activities. Output measures do not address the value or impact of your services for your clients.
On the other hand, an outcome is the level of performance or achievement that occurred because of the activity or services your organization provided.
Output is linked with input - for example if you input seed supplied for a project then your output would be farmers who received the seeds.
Outcome is directly linked to impact- eg number of farmers sold produced goods from seeds/ impact would be reduced poverty in the area.
I home it makes sense.
in my opinion, you have to understand that the outputs are the contributions of the organization or the activities that we organize. then following the realization of these activities it leads to short term effects which in other words the outcome.
True indeed
Input equals output
Outcome equals impact
