Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) roles often require a combination of technical expertise and soft skills to effectively assess, measure, and improve the performance of programs or projects. What are your views?
In as much as Technical/HARD skills are required for successful project execution, SOFT skills on the other hand cannot be underestimated. Soft skills like empathy, self awareness, community awareness and engagement are an essential part of sustainable projects. Most or almost all projects are community based and ones ability to effectively communicate and engage the community eliminates most of the potential risk and challenges that can arise.
Having soft skills as a monitoring and evaluation specialist is required to be able to meaningfully engage both your team and the outside community.
People with SOFT skills are able to better understand the dynamics of the terrain in which they operate.
