Risks and Assumption:Risks and assumptions are external factors over which the project has little control, but which may impact project activities and results. The factors are often connected to events, contexts, and/or community beliefs. Identifying risks and assumptions helps an organization prepare for potential challenges in meeting the program goal as well as determining if a program redesign would be beneficial. For example, if an assumption highlights that a community may be unwilling to accept the activity, it may be necessary to redesign the program or first add additional activities that will build community support.

  • Monitoring is a continuous process by which stakeholders obtain regular feedback on progress towards achieving the set milestones and results (often focusing more on process, activities, inputs and outputs). It is a process that is not only concerned with the transformation of inputs into outputs, but can also take the form of physical and financial monitoring, process monitoring and impact monitoring.

Evaluation is a process which determines, as systematically and as objectively as possible, the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and impact of activities in the light of a project/programme performance. It focuses on analysing the progress made towards the achievement of the objectives that an organisation or social enterprise set for themselves.

  • In planning for M&E, I am looking forward to understand and define the indicators that measure progress towards the planning objectives in determining what data must be collected at what moments of the process, the methods of data collection, and how findings will be analyzed and reported.
