The importance of M&E are that it helps an organization collect, analyse, track and report on relevant information throughout a project

They could measure how many girls are in need of the loans and how many are willing to start up a business with those loans this can be achieved by conducting a survey in a selected area of target.

The MEH team should work on determining the nature of the project. When compared with the GOOD project, the MEH project is complex as it has several tasks that need and depend on beneficiaries' commitment and skills. Furthermore, the microfinanciers would need to evaluate the borrower's repayment capacity. As the objective is to expand the horizons of the girls through microloans, the outcome will depend mostly on the beneficiaries' ability to accomplish tasks in designated time frames.

• The donors would be interested to know the number of individual development plans prepared for the girls on their desired horizon-expanding plans.

• The number of girls who managed to obtain microloans and the actions taken with regard to failed applicants

• The number of girls who managed to expand their horizons through MEH and the actions taken with regard to failures

M&E is both the function and tool of project management. As a function, the M&E would help project coordinator to deliver on the controlling functional requirement of project management. As a tool, M&E provides the means to make informed decision in project management.

Monitoring data are used regularly: daily, weekly, or monthly. Monitoring data are used to answer questions such as:
• Is our project reaching its targets?
• Is our project spending money and resources efficiently?
• Have any problems come up?
• Have we noticed any successes?

Evaluation data are used to answer questions like:
• Did our project achieve what it planned on achieving?
• Was our project a good use of money and resources?
• Did something happen that we didn’t plan?
• Did we learn something unexpected?

The MEH project staff should know the goals of the project, what they want to achieve, for whom and how many people, in where and how many places, and when the target time (month or year). And how the will measure the progress by keeping record of how many girls borrow small amounts of money (microloans) in certain time, how they plans to collect information on how much loan each their beneficiaries get, how the loans accounts change their beneficiaries lives, what beneficiaries think about the project, and how the project can be improved.

MEH should firstly decide how many months they are planning to work with the project. This will help them to plan their project within the given timespan to avoid last minute hustles. Then, M&E plan should be created. I'd suggest, to have one fix employee to note the amount of loans given out to each girl. According to this, one employee should follow up with those loan receivers to understand how they are going to start their business and what are their further plan. This is the initial plan. Further, the surveys should include continuous follow-ups with those girls to measure the progress of their business in terms of their total items sold, their investment and their income.

Through monitoring and evaluation, we can:
Review progress;
Identify problems in planning and/or implementation;
Make adjustments so that you are more likely to “make a difference”.

I think some times you the data was clear and easy to collect because is evdent. Sometimes we meet divergence and M&E plan make resolve the problem of data that is not very easy to measure ad collect

An M&E plan helps to define, implement, track and improve a monitoring and evaluation strategy within a particular project or a group of projects; it includes all the steps, elements and activities that need to happen from the project planning phase until the project reaches its goal and creates the intended impact

Our project : Microfinance for Expanding Horizons (MEH), global goal is to improve conditions lives of girl. Spefics goals are : to sentisize aroung 1500 girls ; to help 500 girls to borrow money at microfinance institution in the next year ; to develop 1500 business of girl ; and facilitate finance access to at least 1000 girls in the last year.
Before the implementation of this project, our team makes the M&E plan. This plan consist to collect data, identify activies, indicators outcomes of each activity.
For each outcome, we going to see, if its impacts have impacts of girls lives

Evaluation is when we compare the work we have done to our original project plan, to asses our success.

M&E plans also referred to as MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) plans can inform us of how project indicators will be calculated

I like the fact that the course provides for assignments as part of the grading

I also think that it is important to find a way to include the last 2 modules not taught in this course as part of the course
