Questions are very important in identification of the problem which needs to be soclved
Should theory of change process always lead to change? In other words, can status quo be an acceptable result of a theory of change process?
Theory of Change process is more useful for project design/re-design. The change pathway or logical framework is relevant in document the change pathway that is being implemented. It can come as a component of the project charter, M&E plan etc.
To your second quesiton; This also means that theory of change process is relevalnt at project level
A vision statement should only be changes if it is found to be weak i.e. not very inspirational. Otherwise for an organization that already has a strong vision statement, a theory of change process does not necessarily have to change the Vision statment but must start from the vision statement
When we determine a need for change to achieve greater results. The theory of change should also be periodically reviewed and updated e.g. annually. This would include reviewing monitoring and reviewing the change assumptions
I would love to learn more about how to clarify the vision and identifying the pit falls while writing the theory of change
In essence, an organisation’s Theory of Change describes how it believes it makes a difference. It should clearly link inputs and activities to outcomes and to achieving the organisation’s overall goals. (It is usually expressed as a diagram with an accompanying narrative that explains the model.)
The section was interesting. I looked forward to learn more.
How can you ensure that your vision and mission statements stand out?
Thr only reason you should change your vision statement is when you feels that it is not strong enough.
It was satisfactory
I wonder if anyone here have experience with mitigating the "mirror instead of target" pitfall?
Remember to involve other professionals in your organisation when developing a theory of change
how is theory of change different from the logical frame work.
I have no doubts for now.
thank you
Even though we think of articulating assumptions as a discreet step in the theory development process, assumptions may surface throughout this process as participants
think out loud. It may be important to discuss with the group the need to keep critical assumptions in mind (or to write them down as they come up in conversation), since this step is about checking the assumptions embedded in the theory that has been developed thus far. It may make sense to keep a running list of assumptions on a sheet of poster paper so that when the group gets to this step in the process it can be used as a jumping-off point.
In applying the ToC, do I need to be specific with one process as to my unit or can I apply ToC in our organization as a whole?
how is theory of change different from the logical frame work.
it has been a good module, well equipped but came with a question, how would you deal with these pitfalls and how sure one can be that when well dealt with give you a success.
not real, i think you have to be well conversant with what you are willing with first.
Hi,
My question is as it relates to how an organisation can effectively take external contexts into account especially in some developing countries where there is a high level of policy summersaults and inconsistency.
For me, efforts at simplifying the process of Theory of Change begin with the involvement of all relevant stakeholders. These will bring to the table their respective perspectives and may facilitate the entire process
what are the likely pitfalls that you have realized in your organization and how are you planning to avoid them
How many words can we say an ideal vision statement should have?
I found this sentence which happens to be a question useful.
"What evidence will we use to show that this has been achieved?"
I found it important because it is a question that must be answered at each point in the pathway of change which provides indicator that track progress and measure the degree of success.
I would say that all members have freedom of expression and will be given fair hearing.
I would ensure everyone's voice is heard.
All ideas would be considered diligently but the most suitable, useful and result-oriented would be considered
i closed the session before completion. i was not able peer response
Hello everyone.
I think the topic "avoiding pitfalls" is super important when preparing to facilitate a ToC. How have you approached it with your teams and what would you recommend to approach them? This is the first time I am going to facilitate a ToC process.
Kind regards.
What is the difference between a theory of change and a strategic plan?
It is possible to share some good examples of ToC with indian or Asian context with set examples
it has been a good module, well equipped but came with a question, how would you deal with these pitfalls and how sure one can be that when well dealt with give you a success.
NO question, The module gave me a clear understanding on what is a theory of change
What would have been the best response to question B?
I am not sure I understood the difference between the theory of change and the logical carder, the two seem the same to me.
I have no question
The module was great

This link didn't work for me, it is about "clarify your vision"
Can we segment mission and vision into other intermediary groups like targets, strategies and deadline?
I don't have any question but this topic is new for me but i try to new skill as it it important for me. as new my role also connected to organization development and in process of change.
I do not have some questions but only a comment. The topic was helpfull, hence,i and everyone who will be exposed to it in future will be well developed and translate it to other people to develop too

What if you discover your organization's Theory of change has some pitfalls and you are an intern, how do you go about raising the concerns? I would reach out to my immediate supervisor and share my concerns.
Concepts was easy to understand. My peers effort in answering the questions was appreciated.

what if the goals of the project differ from the organization's vision, what happens on writing the vision statement
What are the key known weakness of this tool called TOC?

The module was excellent, I have learnt alot. Thank you for giving us this chance to continue learning!
How long does it take to complete a successful theory of change process?
why the theory of change engages the responsibility of all staff?
I have no questions at this time
With vision statement well articulated, the process of theory of change development will be clear and guided.
I agree with the statement. Now it can be easy to work backwards
About theory of change and the logical framework. Is it wise to use both approaches or you just need to pick one approach and move forward with it?
Quite engaging introduction to theory of change
Nice one
Point of clarification (Preference between Theory of Change and Logical Framework)
With the Theory of Change and Logical Framework almost similar although differing in some instances, if one organization (especially n ew one) has to choose between the two, is there a recommendation that is generally preferred?
The module is rich and simple to understand.
Creating a theory of change starts at initial stage but has to begin when all the key stakeholders are engaged.
It should be considered as one of the powerful tools for program and determines if a program would register success or failure.
All the confusing common terms clearly defined to all the key stakeholders, the terms commonly confusing include; precondition, assumption, intervention, long term outcome.
The guiding preparation phases include; preparation, facilitation and implementation.
next put more example which may help more.
Course is very well designed
Good to learn second module
Everything was well explained in the slides provided.
The content is very well explained and I have no questions
We understand that organizations in a broader sense include project teams set up purposely to deliver a particular unique output. So, can the ultimate project deliverables or project mandate inspire clarifying of vision for a theory of change?
Can I create Theory of Change for 6 months relief project?
Can I create Theory of Change for 6 months relief project?
Does the government use Theory of Change?
Does the government use Theory of Change for its long term programs?
I do not have any particular issues on what has been covered this far.
great and engaging
I will have to come back and review some concepts again. But over all it was great!
Have any of you applied TOC in your context? Has TOC already been a part of your organization?
No Further Questions.
A theory of change is essentially an explanation of how a group of stakeholders expects to reach a commonly understood long-term goal..
i want to implementing this theory of change to industrial revolution 5.0 what should i do?
Module questions are really very important and full of information. Module questions play a pivotal role in education and training, serving as a structured approach to imparting knowledge, promoting critical thinking, and facilitating comprehensive learning experiences. These questions are designed to cover specific topics or themes within a subject or course, guiding learners through a well-organized journey of exploration and understanding. They contribute to a deeper comprehension of the subject matter and encourage students to engage actively with the content.
The importance of module questions lies in their ability to provide a roadmap for learning, helping students navigate through complex concepts step by step. They serve as a bridge between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enabling students to connect the dots and see the bigger picture. Module questions are carefully crafted to align with learning objectives, ensuring that students not only grasp fundamental concepts but also develop critical skills such as analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.
Furthermore, module questions promote active learning. Instead of passively absorbing information, students are encouraged to think critically, reflect on what they've learned, and synthesize their understanding. This process fosters a deeper level of engagement and retention, as well as the development of skills that are valuable beyond the classroom.
Guidance is another vital aspect of module questions. Educators and trainers carefully structure these questions to guide learners along a logical progression of concepts. This guidance helps prevent confusion and ensures that students build a solid foundation before delving into more advanced topics. It also supports independent learning, as students can navigate the module at their own pace while still benefiting from a well-organized curriculum.
Overall satisfaction with module questions stems from their ability to provide a structured and comprehensive learning experience.
Splended journey
The TOC can help us to learn from our mistakes and successes. By understanding how our interventions work, we can improve our chances of achieving our desired outcomes.
Just thanking you for the session please.
Dear Members,
is there anyone who has knowledge and experience working with epicenter center strategies? i need to know is my vision is can incorporate the strategy at the end of this training.
What would a good combination of leads be to ensure a successful Theory of Change process?
I also found the distinction between vision and mission is difficult. In short, I see now that the vision is the dream destination that we want to reach, while the mission is how we plan to travel to reach there, based on our resources, speed and context.
Great module!
it was an insightful learning experience
it was an insightful learning experience
identify the long term outcome, it sat that its not easy to identify the long-term goal because people will always have different idea of the long term goals at first, one major pitfall is that sometime an unclear theory of change can be raised, and when this happens it will affect the whole pathway change
No question so far, the module was well understood.

Necessary Tools and equipment’s for digging the well and enough material and Pipe scheme for leading the water to every single house and to provide a comprehensive awareness /Training of WASH for save usage of water.
Yes, I have some questions to better understand and apply this lesson in practice.
Also, how do you think a Theory of Change can help guide decision-making and resource allocation within an organization?
I agree that the distinction between vision and mission can be difficult to grasp at first. However, your explanation is a great way to understand it. The vision is the ultimate goal or dream that we want to achieve, while the mission is the practical plan or strategy to get there. It's important for organizations to have both a clear vision and a well-defined mission in order to stay focused and motivated towards their long-term goals.
Yes, I agree with the discussion about this module. And also, I would like to share my view on your discussion.
