Our summer camp and after-school program seasons run from June through August. Beginning budget planning in July after wrapping up the summer programs will allow us to analyze outcomes and costs from the previous season to inform budget projections.

The new school year begins in September, so having our budget year aligned and finalized by then will facilitate smooth startup of our fall programming.

Several of our corporate sponsors conduct their own fiscal year-end reviews and charitable giving budgets over the summer months. Syncing to a July 1 start date positions us well to be considered in those summer funding cycles.

  • As for the budgeting year start date, it should align with your organization's operational cycle and funding sources. For example, if your organization receives funding at the beginning of the calendar year, it would make sense to start the budgeting year around that time to effectively plan and allocate resources.
