  • Number 1 point in any project. I would say even more – communication is the driving force in great majority of situations that happen in the world. It is very important to have a constant talk with each member. Thus a manager gets ongoing feedback, updates colleagues and simply shows that he is not a boss with tough management style, but a leader who can discuss even yesterdays’ TV-show.

  • There is drinking water service nearby.
    There are pipes to conduct the water.
    How far is the nearest water reservoir from the town.
    The population has hydraulic installations.

  • It is very important the clean water source and the pipes. Maybe one truck to transport the water.

  • The necessary and sufficient preconditions for achieving this vision are:

    1. brainstorming the first row of the pathway map.
    2. sorting and narrowing down the brainstormed into four to six most important preconceptions.
    3. backwards mapping to surface the preconditions for each of the elements in the first row and so on.

  • Ultimate outcome: clean, safe, and drinkable water to all of the residents in their region
    Precondition: wells, rain catchment tanks, springs and sand dams are well maintained accross the region
    Precondition: communities in the region are trained on technology maintenance
    Precondition: technologies are installed accross the region according to the geology, climate... with the support of the communities themselves (using their assets)
    Precondition: communities and local experts determine together the best technology to provide clean, safe and drinkable water

  • People to avail it
    Scarcity of resources

  • Necessary:
    Clean source of water

    People willing to use the water

    Sufficient:
    Tests to determine that it is safe, and drinkable
    Channels to distribute the water

  • Necessary and Sufficient Preconditions (Funds, WASH specialists, suitable location, contractors, community engagements, water materials)

  • Establishing safe water zone, Rain water harvesting, Building community resilience

  • water supply
    community led environmental saniation
    hygiene behaviur change

  • After identified long term outcome and a target population one is ready to create a pathway of change.
    Big changes are logically linked to smaller changes
    By the time this is done , one will have created a pathway of change .
    The planning team should identify the necessary and sufficient preconditions for achieving the Organisation vision.
    A simplified refined and attractive version of the diagram created with the Team.
    It should be clearly communicated the theory of meaningful social change and the strategy to achieve it.
    The outcome is to motivate and achieve the organisation's goal and objectives.
    Examples of pathway of change:
    A) Japan created for End of Life Care Association of Japan in 2019 V/s
    B) Fiver Children's Foundation (2013):
    PATHWAY OF CHANGE under (A) is easier to understand it's simplified Diagram (one page) Illustration and narratives
    Even both {A) and (B) have visions . (A) is short and precise

  • Necessary Preconditions: Water source, Storage facilities, Mode of delivering water
    Sufficient preconditions: lab facilities to test water quality, Water treatment plant/ necessary chemicals for water treatment, knowledge resources

  • Purifiers, pipes, wells, containers.

  • Availability of location where to put up the water pump or station, the willingness of the residents to support the project and their commitment to sustain the project are the necessary preconditions to achieve the vision.

  • The preconditions that come to my mind for providing drinkable water to the local population are: a well from which to draw water, a place where to have the well, a population aware of and in agreement with the project, people from the area who maintain the well/forage.

  • Necessary preconditions:

    • water-well or similar;
    • water purification instruments;
    • transportation to reach all the region / fuel;
    • community acceptance to the project.

    Sufficient preconditions:

    • inclusion of communities leaders;
    • knowledge of water importance (if not, a specif activity must be put in place).

    Sufficient preconditions:

    • inclusion of communities leaders;
    • knowledge of water importance (if not, a specif activity must be put in place).
  • Sufficient availability of clean, safe and drinkable water for all residents of the region presuming that none of them already have this. There should be reservoir / overhead water tanks for storage , pipelines or water tankers to transport it hygienically to the doorsteps of residences or to community points nearby from which it can be collected by the beneficiaries, facilities to store and consume it it hygienically within the residences, ways to prevent wastage and ensure equitable distribution.

  • I am not sure whether this is in reply to the discussion point on providing clean drinking water.

  • Include transportation of water too.

  • Building wells/sewage treatment plants

  • for the sake of Mohamed, he needs to have the following
    Enough source of clean water supply
    Mechanisms of water purification on a large scale
    water delivery channels and systems in place to deliver safe water close to people eg pipe and pumps
    needs human resource to help him in the activity

    as insufficient preconditions, he may need
    computer systems to ease the work
    secure stores to keep equipment for work
    transport vehicle to transport both equipment and workers

    I need to have HIV test kits
    I need to have ARVs for the patients that test positive
    I need to have a team of professional health workers to aid in service delivery
    need for a team of counselors to motivate patients on life time medication

    Additionally as my insufficient precondition,
    I need to have a well established infrastructure to ease my service delivery that is a building for my offices and vehicles both to transport workers to the field and bring very ill patients to the health facility for hospitalisation

  • Providing clean, safe and drinkable water

    • mount a water treatment plant
    • dig borehole and mount storage tanks
    • map out strategics points to mount reservoir borehole, connecting pipes and taps in different areas.
    • sensitization on the effect of clean, safe and drinkable water in the community
  • to achieve this first of all there is a need of presence of taps or water tanks as necessary preconditions

    And chemicals for treating water e.g chlorine will act as sufficient preconditions

    all these will help to achieve the goal of the project

  • yes that's true, just to add on that there is a need of water treating machines and chemicals to make sure that the water is truly clean and safe ,

  • the necessity here is to involve the beneficiaries in order to better locate water taps where they are accessible to everybody, and this will help them own the project thus sustained properly.
