I think this module has brought about two main important themes, which are:
I agree that combining partnership is a Key factor when dealing with such complex situations that require different expertise in order to be effective for a specific audience.
This module has also emphasized the importance of partnering with other organisations so as to accelerate the process of moving toward the intended impact.

A very useful module on how to maintain momentum during the ‘middle of the marathon’ and how to go beyond the ‘first big win’. Too often in advocacy planning we focus on the initial win and don’t give enough attention to implementation and keeping the energy going through new tactics and partnerships.
It really goes to show that a lot of what many people think as "simple" issues are not as simple as it seems. It really shows how important it is to partner with other organizations to help achieve the goals of your own organization.
Let me confirm what my colleagues said about this Module that it focuses on the importance of building PARTNERSHIPS with other organizations and how to get benefit from these partnerships.
I completely agree that partnerships are very important and can really get things done. I also think that this module has shown that NGO's really have many issues that they have to deal with at once. This was very clearly demonstrated with the illustration of HIV/AIDS and the ARVs. So many competing factors that they had to contend with to get lifesaving medication to underserved populations. For the WEIGO example they were capacity building for the waste pickers to help them advocate for themselves (a bottom up approach somewhat) for HIV/AIDS they were doing a top-down approach of having decision makers make huge policy decisions to save lives. Both tactics can work very well for different situations.
This module has highlighted most of the key challenges faced by NGO's at different times in the race to meeting their objectives. It has stated the struggle to keep momentum and drive in challenging times. This module has also emphasized the importance of partnership as a tool for accelerated progress and achievement.
Yes, my dear. Thank you for the explanation.

What I have learned is that partnership is key is achieving advocacy objectives. Some advocacy groups/individuals may not have the key skills needed to convince their audiences, and hence partners are important.
Also, it is very important in advocacy to have pre-mortems in anticipation for the changing environments.
One way of refreshing your tactics is to partner with different organizations at different times.
It's very important to identify your opposition, allies and influencers while coming up with advocacy strategy at any time
So far in this course , I've come to realization that a successful advocacy strategy requires tenacity and a deep knowledge of ones strength and limitations/weakness a d also the strength and limitations of the intended partners.
I agree which some of the things that are being said. How ever we need to focus on people who need help.

I totally agree with this reflection on this module. Implementation of the change is key to finally meeting the mission.
partnership are a life bond of effective advocacy work
Agreed, partnerships are very essential for advocacy as the strengths of one organisation can benefit you in achieving your goals
I think one great lesson I take away from this is if you have attained your goal of advocacy it's not really the end. Like for the WEIGO example, if the mayor changed and had different rules it may mean coming up with a whole new strategy as well
Yes. It makes you realise the need for, as well as the essence of partnership. In encourages effectiveness. It also speeds up the process of achieving the advocacy goal.
Yes, I totally agree! Even the 'simplest' of issues require a structure and pattern to achieve the set goal. The role of partnership in achieving it must be constantly emphasised.
I definitely saw the importance of partnering with other organizations in order to advance a cause. No one organization knows it all, getting outside views and advice is crucial to changing minds to solve the identified problem.

I thoroughly enjoyed going through this module. Learning and seeing the importance of partnerships will help me going forward.
It's apparent that changing mindsets is difficult, however if an advocate can find the right motivator to change minds (leveraging public opinion) then actors will find it prudent to change strategies in favor of meeting the advocate's goal.
This module has highly emphasized the importance of partnering with different organizations, which is only critical
I learned from this course that advocacy can't be achieved without another partners. We must always unite to others organs for achieving our goals

The advocacy campaign may face difficulties or blockage on achieving desired results. On finding out what are the actual barriers, the organization can be in a good position to win.
In my opinion I've seen the issue of Al Gore as a powerful political figure in U.S to express the policy agenda against universal ARV access was golden chance for Health GAP to win. It enables Health GAP to put more efforts on him, also being an election candidate was the added advantage.
This shows the important of gathering neccesary information through out the campaign for instant adjustment of the strategy and tactics, which can be achieved through strong partinership.
The Organization teach as to be prepared to face the unexpected situation, to have maximum flexibility to adopt different situations on the way.
Great insight
Hello everyone i hope you are having a good weekend, request you to please check my assignment ASAP
It is very interesting , in small ngos is usual the bad management of money for projects, we need to be carefull
I believe this module touches on several points to consider, such as the need to continually monitor where you are in the journey to your end goal and evaluating if strategies and tactics are still the correct ones to keep progress moving forward. It tells us to not become complacent when certain levels or goals are achieved. Finally, that it is important to understand your strengths and weaknesses and the need to partner with those that can help you close the gaps and compliment your own abilities.
Strategic partnerships paly a vital role in realizing organisations' mission and vision. Health GAP achieved the struggle to have HIV medication subsidized by targeting the right audience and making unique strides to achieve the intended objective.
WIEGO was specific on the partnering with the legal organisation and the one that could easily link them up with the target group.
In this module, the key issues that stood out are highlighted below:
Mission Focus is the solution to the problem not the problem we are trying to solve. It is essential that advocates focus on the mission or target goals.
Partnership is highly demanded for any successful advocacy campaign.
Advocates must be resilient because of daunting challenges that confront them during their mission.
Most results also open doors for another problem. As Tanya described, there were seven constitutional court orders in favour of Waste Pickers Association but none has been implemented.
After the goal has been achieved, it must be implemented.
This was a very good lesson on the importance of partnering and making a joint effort with others.
Thank you
Thank you
Yes, advocacy don't need to be done alone , it involves partnering with other team, people and organization so as to achieve success in the problem we are trying to solve.
I think it is a good point that advocacy is never over. you cannot guarantee that things will remain the same under different administrations.
I agree this module focused on every key factor and was very easy to read and follow along with.Great job!
Advocacy requires a smart approach. One needs to be strategic and deploy the right tactics, involve the beneficiaries right from the planning stage and be sure your focus is suitable and acceptable by them, appropriately frame the advocacy message, target and engage the right audience within the right time frame, identify small wins along the way while gauging the bigger picture, be sure to create and maintain right partnerships and focus on your mission.
I agree this module focused on every key factor and was very easy to understand and the advocacy model was well pointed out. Great job!
I agree very well said i couldn't have said it better myself.great job!
Very nice advocacy has very different ways to go forward you worded everything so well and payed very close attention to what was going on. great job!

Very well said you have done a great job and i Agree with you 100%
some partners might be able to reach where your advocacy cannot reach. Great job
In any situation it is always difficult to change people's mindset no matter what the situation is or who your talking to great job.
the two case studies has brought clearly the power of advocacy. that it is important to keep focus on the goal of advocacy activities and that achieving a positive result is not the end of advocacy, you need to follow through to the implementation of the same.

I have learnt in this module that partnerships with other organisations will go a long way in achieving the purpose since no one is an island in advocacy and that persustence and consistency will help yield the desired goal.
Really amazing. Seeing different views of advocacy strategy towards different problems. And inspiring me to work hard on my progress in this course with a big smile on my face!
Agree completely. Saw this with a project I was involved with focused on prevention of gender-based violence in schools in Port Elizabeth South Africa. There were around 9 NGOs involved (each with different areas of speciality from elimination g toxic masculinity to advocating for social inclusion of the LGBTIQ+ community) as well as the Department of Education - to help advance our efforts. Partnerships are key in achieving objectives as far as advocacy goes.

This module taught me the power of partnership in advocacy since on organization cannot have all it takes to influence its targeted audience
Partnership is key for successful advocacy
This module also taught me that advocacy is persistent and continuous because administration keep changing with different agendas
The two case stories brought out the importance of mission-oriented design of an NGO project, together with the "as if" attitude that allows an advocate to approach the context and the situation in terms of disability of the change and the importance of diversified and wide-spread partnerships, both on a logistical level to face unexpected challenges and and/or to merge resources once the purpose of the project leads to it, and also for the perspective of the advocacy, because not everyone can speak to every type of audience, and some partners might be able to reach where your advocacy cannot reach.
this module has emphasized on importance of partnership since advocacy is not a one handed thing but it requires partnership for it to be successful and this will accelerate the advocacy process.it has been a good session
This module have encouraged more with organizations in partnering and working as a team to emphasize on importance.
Exactly, the importance of diversified and wide-spread partnerships, both on a logistical level to face unexpected challenges amongst others
This module has been a good gesture that the organizations need to partner and work as a team so that they can help each other achieve their set goals
Exactly.
And also partnership being a key to success
Choosing the best advocacy strategy based on the target audience is key in achieving your goals.
Well explained.. thanks for this
lessons i learnt that you can always do something alone and achieve it also need partnership at least achieve what you want.
It is very important for NGOs to critically analyse their objectives and possible challenges so they can know exactly which organisations they can partner with if they have to successfully overcome the problems and achieve their advocacy goals.
This module has put more emphasis on partnership which is key
Doing something alone in advocacy can't reach your target easily. You need to involve other departments that aims the same goal
And also how to maintain momentum in advocacy work
These case studies have broken down everything for me and has made it easier to understand the Advocacy process much better
Partnership and alliance are very important in advocacy. Without, we are not only at a very high risk but also there may be an ambiguity that we are working for who? Personal interests or public goods?
These two points are worth pondering on as we engage in advocacy:
This module has thought on partnership in other to attain a set goal
It brings perspective into choosing the right partners.
You adequately summated this module
I believe that partnership n advocacy is an important consideration when trying to create campaigns that you want to succeed. In our last module we learned that one organisation cannot address every issue by themselves and may not be the most qualified to address them. Conclusion: if you want to succeed, you must use the right tools at your disposal.
It is true that some partners can not be reached so easily hence forth we have to meet all stakeholders, such as community leaders, civil society, religious leaders, influential people from government such as ministers in order to make our mission so easy.
I found Module 4 to be extremely helpful to my understanding of how dimensions/aspects of advocacy really play out in existing organizations. Three things stand out in terms of impact: (1) Effective advocacy encompasses having the right group (set of experts) speaking to the right audience (those decision makers in a position to effect change). (2) It is very important to remain mission focused throughout the entire advocacy process but also knowing when the mission is accomplished, so that it is possible to transition either out of the work or transform the mission to reach beyond the original goal(s). (3) As many of my peers have indicated, it is the follow-through and implementation of the hard fought wins that are essential tools necessary for the ultimate achievements of interim and final outcomes.
Partnering with other organizations help to speed the process.
We need to make sure that we understand the module and that we take action
I really enjoyed the module on Partnerships. It is important to remember: no one organization can do everything. It is important to identify your organization's strengths and weaknesses and then partner with other organizations that shore up your organization's weaknesses.
