Now, however, their program had grown too large for this arrangement. The organization would have to buy or lease a van if it wanted to continue offering transportation to its beneficiaries. However, it did not take long for the organization to realize that there was not enough money in their annual operating budget for such a large expense. I believe that my organization should create a cash flow budget for every three months (quarterly). Why because we are a grant giving Nonprofit organization and our main source of inflow is structured in such a way that inflows are receive between two to four months intervals. And our main outflows follows the same pattern. Main inflows are received for only three or four times in a year (12 months). With this type of structure in place three months cash flow budget should be adequate to control inflows and outflows.

Module 2 is such an interesting topic.
Understanding the three major budgets would be a great drive for an organization in it's programs.
Capital expenses seem a mere thing to most company, I remember even in our company, we used not to pay much attention to it but I realized it's worth consideration.
Imagine you were renting office facility and suddenly you decide to invest into building your own.
The long term value is more compare to the initial expenses at that particular time.
Considering an alternative or alternatives for finance is real a great deal though most companies fear to go for loans because of its risks and high interest rates but when the management works on it properly, you will realize, it's benefit will rather uplift the company.
It's good as you think. In doing such, it will depend on how oftentimes you wanna do cash flow analysis, some company can decide to do it weekly to ensure control over it's spending and trace how resources are spent and if for the target program.
That's true and you made it look more easier.
Thanks
Cash flow budget refers to the difference between the cash that which an organization receives during a period of time and the cash that which an organization spends during that same time period.

I like a monthly cash inflow report. We work with many state and federal grants which we bill out monthly (for the large grants) and quarterly (for the smaller grants). The monthly report gives keeps us informed.
I am curious if anyone here receives "reimbursement" grants and how that impacts your cash flow. The majority of our grants are federal/state grants that are billed either quarterly or monthly on a reimbursement (we have to spend the money first!) The grants usually take 60-90 days to receive the reimbursement after the fiscal reimbursement is submitted. I just ran a report for our board and at this very moment, we have dispursed $187,000.00 and waiting on the reimbursement. Very interested in any feedback or suggestions.
Our calendar year should start in February because our sole donor begin their budgeting year in February also so that we will have a seamless budget implementation process.
