  • Monitoring and evaluation is not a one-time thing. As long as programs are running, data will need to be collected to ensure these programs are hitting their goals. Moving from paper-based ways of collecting data to using dedicated computerized systems is one way to better collect and store data in the long run. Using computerized tools can also help generate dashboards which can help your team more easily gather insights from data

  • Very learning module

  • Log frames are very important in generating indicators that can help in developing M & E data for analysis and interpretation

  • Monitoring and evaluation is the gauge for any project. without correct metrics, used by the right people and the right time and for right reasons, there is no way an organization can track the impact of a certain intervention.

  • Log frame are importante, once you ahve the right resource to generate you are in good shape.

  • The points you have highlighted are very important and organizations need to take them very seriously.

  • Very true and very interesting
It gives us a clear picture of how to do things.

  • Monitoring, evaluation and learning is a very vital part in capacity building and should be carried out appropriately

  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning is not "a one touch thing". It should be continuous as long as programs are on the run. With effective Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, data can be collected to track work progress and also ensure an organization is achieving its goals.

  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning should be done continuously.

  • Collection of data to track work progress is very key.

  • I think one of the biggest challenges to improving impact in this pillar is transitioning from paper based data collection and dispersed systems to a more unified computerized system or application for collecting data that is developed specifically for the needs of the nonprofit. This could be costly and may involve a bit of a learning curve for volunteers who are not necessarily tech savvy. I think data collection should be automated as much as possible in order to avoid the margin of human error.

  • Data collection was very important as the first step to identification of a problem, chosen alternative action, implement the solution, measure the result, and taking a good decision making to enable the organization achieved their goals and objectives.

  • Data collection was very important as the first step to identification of a problem, chosen alternative action, implement the solution, measure the result, and taking a good decision making to enable the organization achieved their goals and objectives.

  • All organisations needs data to be able to know where they are and what is to be done

  • To have data is very important in our organization because its help your to know whom you are and what are doing

  • It is one way of increasing the funds to our organization

  • Nice Module. It has given me great insight on Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Focusing on MEL not only helps in making data driven decision but also being able to identify if organisation's resources are utilized in the most efficient and effective way and are directed towards org's long term impact.

  • Agreed. Bringing technology in the systems and processes of MEL is a game changer. However, as a start, there are certain tools that are available at lower costs/free of cost and can be utilized for collecting the data.

  • MEL is a continuous learning process since our geo-political environment can change, our access to resources might change and we may have a different strategy to achieve our mission in the long run as and when we keep getting more clarity about problem statements, hence being flexible to change our approaches and bringing new ways of MEL in the org is necessary. Moreover, technology is the solution to automate certain processes and creating a more effective and efficient way of learning and making decisions.

  • Gathering feedback from your peers can indeed be one of the most powerful tools in generating solutions to policy or program problems but only if the that feedback is evidence-based i.e. it is informed by their experience, observations, data and other forms of credible information. This is why MEL is so important because, if done well, it provides continual and periodic evidence that is relevant and credible and therefore a good foundation upon which to base planning and implementation decisions.

  • you have explained this well, and highlighted that the key to good MEL is the establishment and use of a systematic approach.

  • monitoring gives us real-time or at least regular and routine information on which to base sound management decisions, whereas evaluation allows us to improve design of current and future programs

  • It gives much clearance that we need to monitor and evaluate once we reach the end of program life cycle.

  • Monitoring and evaluation is a very essential procedure that can assure better performance in the long run. It gauges the success of your undertakings.

  • It is very important to note that MEL is not a once off activity but in order for a program to exist it must be guided by MEL. MEL also is needed to check if its achieving the required goals. It can also assist to present the problem better in order to check the impact of the program. Measuring the impact using a metrics can also assist the organisation in reinforcing that the program is strengthened in weak areas.

  • For me, MEAL is the most important step.
The Knowledge of planning and collecting data then use this data in an effective way will help get your organization much stronger and stable.

  • Since Monitoring , Evaluation and Learning plays the huge role to provide the necessary data to guide strategic planning, to design and implement programmes and projects, and to allocate, and re-allocate resources in better ways then it becomes the most powerful tool in generating solutions. One organization in different stages focus on ME&L then obviously the team members will definitely be focused and have a driving Direction. The use of computerized tools might be a challenges to some organization but if ME&L ahs goals and Objectives then thats why its the long time program to improve and develop organizations.

  • The bi8ggest challenge most especially in Africa is the use of current technology to improve the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning program or Department in organization because many developing organization seek to fight but end up not having right tools.

  • Yes, monitoring and evaluation take consistency to vision, mission and goal of the organization.
If not all efforts input into monitoring and evaluation will prove abortive or effortless.
Which at the long - run, it cost the organization more resources and materials.

  • Collection of data is highly important and a key step in other to keep track of progresses made over time and also helps in identifying a problem when need be

  • Collection of data is highly important and a key factor that helps to keep track of progresses made, it also helps to identify losses where applicable

  • Monitoring and evaluation is highly recommended to be done quarterly in order to keep track of the company's growth and also know if there's need for improvement

  • This is actually a great topic. Monitoring and Evaluation when done correct according to the recommendations 1-4 can provide a lot of insight to decision makers. I'd say the best way to start by empowering and improving the system from ground data collection tools.

  • Explanation of the tools was helpful. If anyone has some to share would enjoy leveraging

  • M&E is a term for the processes set up with the goal of improving their management of outputs, outcomes and impact.is a continuous management function to assess if progress is made in achieving expected results, to spot bottlenecks in implementation and to highlight whether there are any unintended effects (positive or negative) from an investment plan, programme or project (“project/plan”) and its .covers all the work carried out during or after a project to define, select, collect, analyse and use information.

  • The way they told the process of collecting data, research, and action, I just said, was very effective, result result-oriented. A new NGO can easily start their MEL by using the method that Dsara told.
