  • Effective advertising

Word-of-mouth advertising has existed as long as mankind has communicated and traded goods and services. Word-of-mouth advertising is considered the most effective form. It has the desired qualities of strong credibility, high audience attention levels, and friendly audience reception. It features open-ended conversation with questions and answers about the product, psychological incentives to purchase, memorability, efficiency and frequency. Word-of-mouth advertising passes product information to many other potential buyers (and may even include promotional trial demonstrations and free sampling), at little or no cost to the business. Whenever possible, a small business should build an advertising program that results in word-of-mouth advertising. Satisfied customers are your best advertisements.

In some respects, typical media advertising (e.g., the Miller Lite "less filling/more taste" ads) acts only as a catalyst to achieve word-of-mouth advertising and increased sales. Successful advertising will achieve many times more ad mentions through word-of-mouth than the number of paid media presentations of the ads.

  • Social media has changed the way word-of-mouth advertising affects the consumer. The consumer still listens to the suggestion of the influencer they are following, using the word-of-mouth model. However, these days it's difficult to know if a suggestion is genuine or paid. Instagram has it's verified influencers state if the ad is paid or genuine.

  • The digital world and digital media affect everyone and even businesses too. Digital media marketing can be transmitted ove rthe internet or computer networks and this has helped saved time and energy, employees can focus more intently on providing customers with an excellent experience.

  • Although, digital marketing has made advertising more effective, it requires a lot of upskilling or for the organization to recruit a content manager. However, behind everyone there is a community, so the relationship we have offline with customers is also very important. So, effective advertising must include Word of Mouth and Digital Marketing.

  • word-of-mouth advertising is made possible in social media and it's a boon in business.

  • A very interesting topic indeed! Advertising is at the heart of the succes of any kind of business both for profit and non-profits. Every non-profit organization should have goals to reach or impact a given population in need or that aims to changing a current paradigm. The success of their efforts lies on their effectiveness to promote their mission and programs. Word of mouth is certainly very important and as you mention is a reflection of the quality of a service and providing something people really need or want (e.g. think of how Tesla became so popular without having to advertise as heavily as some of its competitors. When crafting the services you plan to offer in your non-profit organization, one must always listen and tune into the communities we serve so that our programs, products or services are welcomed with enthusiasm. In the end, as any regular business, to stay relevant you must conduct a needs assessment to make sure that your services are needed in your community. Couldn't agree more on the comments about how social media have opened up new and far reaching avenues to meet and share the services we offer with potential beneficiaries.
