In Module 3, your assignment was to write a fundraising proposal.
In a discussion post below, please respond to the following questions:
1: What was the most challenging part of writing a fundraising proposal and why?
2: What is one strategy that you will use when writing fundraising proposals in the future?
After responding, please reply to at least one other learner and respond to their ideas.
the objectives part is somewhat challenging
Not having an actual organization to voucher for.
One of the things I find hard is keeping proposals only to the essential info, no jargon and less descriptive (I have a backgound in English studies) One thing I will focus on in the future is keeping to the core information and using Tom's framework to bullet point only what is essential!
Awesome program.
Exactly. Keeping only the core information and being specific actually saves reviewers (donor) time and therefore ensures higher chances of getting more attention
Ture, it is most challenging, and at the same time it is one of the most vital part what reviewers check critically.
Awesome.
The most challenging part in developing a proposal is putting up is framing the goal, objectives and the abstract statements.
One of the strategies i will use in future to write a proposal is to research the needs of the donor and include them in the proposal.
The objective part was challenging
The most challenging part in developing a proposal is putting up is framing the goal, objectives and the abstract statements. That is the main Point.
Writting in English language is a big challenge for me but now I am learning english.

One of the most challenging moment in writing proposal is making the budget because it take a time for you take think the exact amount the funder might want you to write while making the proposal.
The budget part of it because you have to break down with calculation of what you need the money for and it require some techniqes

yes,you are right
Identifying clear, measurable objectives that can actually contribute to achieving the goal target requires a lot of time, research and thinking.
1: What was the most challenging part of writing a fundraising proposal and why?
to was the begginig I think that to start the writting is something challenging but once you start it all flows like the river in the best way
2: What is one strategy that you will use when writing fundraising proposals in the future?
think about what the donor wants to hear and say the most important bullet points to describe the organization in an easy way

yes,you are right
one of the challenging aspect of writing a proposal for me is the capability statement especially to a new donor
I do understand the requirements of all the sections of the proposal but my challenge arises on keeping my information succinct and clear, i give out too many words. I fail to condense my information so that the document can be brief and quickly understood. In this career i am getting into i really need to work hard on this weakness
I absolutely agree with your submission that research is key to satisfactorily provide all the relevant information that the donor looks for in the sections of the proposals in order to make a decision on whether to fund your project or not. Thank you
The most challenging part of writing a fundraising proposal in my opinion was to keep it brief and to not come over as a commercial person.
I will definitely use the strategy of masking operational expenses as program expenses by setting up a program that takes on the form of training in the shape of administration.
Agreed.
I found that listing ''famous'' people that are in some way connected to your organization helps to make it stick out from the crowd.
Writing an entire proposal can be very challenging and daunting, a proposal to me is almost is like a cover letter for a job application. You need to sell yourself and the organization project to the potential funder, to persuade them to donate to the cause.
I agree with your response, famous people tend to be idolized by so many both the wealthy and the rest of the population, and they more than likely want to be a part of and associate with causes and organizations these famous people are also associated with.
The most challenging part for me, is the abstract statement
The most challenging part is to keep it simple but attracting.
In future, I will come up with new programs that will help me raise more funds. This will be by starting a project that can add to the Foundation's income
That is true. Having these kind of people in your event or just their names appearing in your programs adds to the attraction of the event.
Sure, abstract can be challenging especially when introducing a program that is very vital.
The most challenging issue in writing proposal, is limited time available.
To keept it simple in the budget & plan of action. Dont want to include something that you later won't be able to deliver
1: What was the most challenging part of writing a fundraising proposal and why?
I would say the problem. You need to understand your donor well in order to present the problem as aligned as possible to the donors strategic priorities. As my project impacts many many problems, it was difficult to narrow just one without really knowing the donor.
2: What is one strategy that you will use when writing fundraising proposals in the future?
First, I will make personal contact with the potential donor I want to request money. It is important to know the donor in person, or mail or phone to be 100% sure what exactly to communicate in a proposal.
Yes, maybe is better to right the abstract after you have the other sections completed :)
I have some work to do in this area but it won't take me long to get the hang of it. It was a bit difficult with the fact that I couldn't really talk much about the organization or what is actually done.

Hello everyone, I have finished this course and need for someone to review my work in the assignments for modules 3 and 4. Could someone review my work please.
Thank you,
DéLise
This was incredibly useful!! The most challenging part was to come up with the needs statement that would be appropriate the the funder's grant. What I will do differently is be sure each Grant Proposal has a simple and clear Abstract. Really got a lot out of this.
Following the lessons make it easy to complete the fundraising proposal.
In writing a grant proposal the most difficult aspect to is how to find a funder who has the same interest and aspirations as you organization's project. this is because if the funder is not interested in your type of project your proposal is dead on arrival.
what i needed to do is to overcome such challenges is to find our from people or organization who are familiar with such funder area of interest or find what similar project to mine that has been sponsored in the past by such a funder
very simple but well explained write up, thank so much
The most challenging part of the budget proposal is the budget part wherein you need to quote the right amount for your donor. Moreover, we should also use our past donor information in the credentials space because your current donor and past ones may be competes.
I also wanted to confirm like how much time does it take normally for the peer assessments to complete. Can someone please help!
The challenging part was in the budget as you have to set the amount that you think it will be sufficient but it might be less more that expected
The step I will take in writing grant proposal is to write according to the instructions and be clear with my statements
Be as concise and short as possible, trying to send to the donor all the information about the cause you are supporting and why in a few phrases.
I believe that keeping up with a straightforward approach, while providing the essential information to provide all the elements for a feasible assessment of the project.
I completely agree with the necessity to be very cautious about what the potential funder wants to address the requirements on the best way possible.
The most challenging thing was to make the budget for the project, the most reasonable thing without leaving out any point and making the calculation of time to carry it out and have it finished
The strategy to always follow in the writing is to make the program clear, concise, and make clear mention of the objectives and goals, what are the needs or problems to be solved with the support of the grant
For me identifying the funder was a problem. This is because I personally have never known that is is essential to identify specific funders.
In the future, i will ensure that there is alignment between our organization and funders.
Budgeting is a problem for most of us. Good point.
This was awesome because it has help me to understand the budgeting and writing proposals that stand out
I Agree its a cover letter especially when you are developing a concept note to the call, should be specific and precisely to the call by the Funder
The challenging part in the budgets especially on Government Grants are that its not always that what you have budgeted is equal to the disbursements, sometimes the Funds given will be less your application which now leaves you with the readjusting your budget to fit into the money given.
Prepare the Budget
the challenging part in fund raising proposal is budget breakdown part, because some times funders may not state the amount they are going to donate.
i think if we try to answer the what, where, when, how and why questions the drafting of the objective will be easier
the strategy in fund raising proposal is to follow the recommendations stated in the course: introduction, need statement, Goals & objectives, description of program, capacity show and monitoring and evaluation
i would say project budgeting is the most challenging part for me and how to determine a budget for project that is relatively new.
the strategy that i liked the most, that to have letter for recommendation from other partners or funders who previously worked with.
it was not really challenging. I have learnt to write a precise abstract
the hardest part for me is filling in real world forms using the strategies discussed here...they do not always have the space to clearly define problem statement, objectives etc.
A strategy I will use is checking eligibility and guidelines very carefully before applying
Budget setting is what I found little challenging.
Objectives part because you have to point at specifics which is very difficult
It was a great to learn a proper way of proposal writing.
making sure to invest time into the donor to find out their interests and how those interests align with the organization.
The most challenging part to write the fundraising proposal is the solutions and the budgets.
One of my strategy to write the fundraising proposal is to have the logical framework first
good to know
yes I am agree with that
The most challenging is writing the introduction.
The best way to write is to be as simple as possible and write in less technical terms.
I agree with you.
Lack of organisation to apply the knowledge acquired is the major challenge
Lack of organisation to apply the knowledge acquired is the major challenge
hay say hallooooo
hay say hallooooo
The most challenging part is writing the executive summary or abstract. Condensing everything into a few paragraphs.
Agreed. Introducing and summarizing the projects can be challenging.
True, I think budget requires an expert and I think it is good to do this with the officer in charge of finance in the organization.
Budget development is the most difficult one for me and my strategy is to involve an accountant from my organization. I also think in order to have a clear objective, outcome and output it is important to develop a logical framework first.
I guess the best way is to do homework and see what the funder is all about - this way a project can be created that fits the funders as well as our organizations need. It's easy if you have building projects, but harder when it's about teaching. The budgeting part is quite challenging.
The proposal shall help make the goals to be succeeded
The proposal writing is very important
Very best
Yes this subject is very helpful
the objectives part is somewhat challenging
One of the things I find hard is keeping proposals only to the essential pre work through desk research in, keeping to the core information and integrating innovative sustainability approaches
Detailed crafting of competitive strategy and approach, social impact organizations can also explore complementary partnerships on bids
Detailed desk research can help guide a compelling narrative methodology
Collaborations with community stakeholders and volunteer can support justification for buy-in, ownership and sustainable impact of a methodology
how best can i draw up a budget
The goals and objectives part needs to have worked a lot on the solution to the problem to be able to know
how long the effort will take, who is doing what, what is needed to be done, who is really benefitting, and what are good measures of success.
Next time I will talk to the organization and stakeholders to find the answers to all the questions before writing the proposal
Coming up with a shorter and straight forward need statement was a challenge. However, this module the problem is completely solved.
I support your idea
The most challenging was to identify the organization to request for funding, then when it comes to writing the proposal the abstract and stating objectives was also challenging
One strategy that i will use is to ensure i have communicated the objectives in a very clear and concise way in the first paragraph to communicate to the person reading my proposal .
The goal and objectives section, creating SMART objective was quite challenging.
