@Nelson said in Module 1 Discussion: The 7 Myths of Fundraising:
@ChegeSimon @julietmyjewel I hope you have started to reach out to your networks if fundraising is needed for your organizations. That would be a very good experience for fundraising from outsiders at a later stage.
I agree. Thank you Nelson
quite interesting
In the next month I will fully assess our fundraising for 2020, identify priority areas for 2021, and fine tune communications materials.
In the next month, I plan to use the four criteria to evaluate all of the new donors that I am considering approaching to help better frame our communications with the donors.
Such a laudable endeavor @jillwuqu. We wish you all the best in that regard.
Keep up the good work @jillwuqu. We are glad you are already implementing the knowledge acquired from the course.
This course helps me to understand the fundraising
I am glad you do @abdulraufpak
Very nice, introductory course! I'll definitely take other fundraising course.
Thank you.
This introductory module has enhanced my understanding of key terminology in fundraising. I feel ready to take other modules
Those were eye-opening
In the next month, I am going to complete the Philanthropy course, Fundraising: Connecting with Donors.
I feel more encouraged to do more proffessional work i fundraising.
That is refreshing to hear @Planka.
We wish you well in this and any other endeavor @mjones2, and congratulations also for a successful completion of the course.
It feels great to know that you are ready to implement knowledge acquired in the course @tmadhlayo.
I am going to draft a grant application identifying our needs with regard to capital and operational support and speaking to how that will aid the aims of the donor.
With this course I have a very good understanding of all the myths and criteria to consider, be objective, work as a team, be transparent, be a listener and grant a benefit both to those who need it in charity and to the donor.
After introduction to fundraising course I, will follow all the myth to fundraising and continue with Tom Wolf's other fundraising course in Philanthropy university.
am looking forward to be a great fundraiser
I do hope to keep up with the work regarding the whole specialization in fundraising from Philantrophy U. Also, the theoretical improvements should follow a better acquaintance with my organization and its demands, when it comes to how it is structured, what are the relevant aspects regarding how to search for a perfect donor and how to address the core variables we studied here.
I have learnt a lot about fundraising in a short while. It is an eye opening experience for me and I will go further to
learn about Fundraising Strategies.
All the best in your endeavor @Emma_Kingdon.
Such a laudable accomplishment @irmacuellar.
@marianayante, the relevant aspects regarding how to search for a perfect donor is by starting with our immediate family and friends (the ones around us). The course does well with practical assignments to help us understand these basics to assist us pursue a cause.
All the best in that regard @ritareal, and congratulations for completing the course successfully.
I feel motivated and I am convinced that I can now initiate the fundraising process
Thank you
This course has inspired me greately to fundraise
I have ben in fundraising for years and this felt like the best refresher ever. The little things you would assume get back to top of your mind
The course was indeed helpful to me also, I have gained more insight on how to identify potential donors and raise more funds for my projects.
Great eye opener, and so many things that I previously overlooked, I will put into practice.
After completing these two modules, I felt motivated to go forward fundraising. Before I didn't know anything about the topic but now I feel skilled for the topic. I next months, I will do my best to implement what I have learned in this course. Thank you

We are glad our course made a positive impact on you @Blacka.
This course helped me a lot to refresh some of the key points related to fundraising. Now, I will sit with my team and share all the learning firstly with the core members and then with the volunteers.
We prepare proper documents related to fundraising and how to approach the potential donors and hopefully we will do very good in coming days.
this was an opener, i previously thought i knew about fundraising, well, i was wrong. great piece
I found this class to be mostly review. I have done a lot of fundraising for other organizations and the main thing I learned from this class is that I am pretty good on the fundraising parts, however I need to build more of a foundation for the non-profit we're starting before I can even begin fundraising. I need a clear concise mission statement, a plan for how to move forward with timelines and budgets in place, and a clearly defined board, before people will donate to my organization. Time to get to work on all of that!
TAKING PART IN FUND RAISING NEEDS A PROPER STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS TO KNOW YOUR POTENTIAL DONORS AND THEIR AREAS OF INTEREST. IT CAN BE A DUNTING TASK IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IS THE SPECIFIC AREAS OF INTEREST OF THE DONORS
YOU ARE VERY CORRECT. ALL WHAT YOU HAVEMENTIONED IN YOUR PIECE ARE THE SPRING BORAD FOR FUNDIN RAISING.A WELL STRUCTURED ORGANIZATION CAN ATTRACT POTENTIAL DONORS
In the next month, I will devote my time to learning more about fundraising and start practicing everything I learn.
@SuperEllie, we wish you all the best in your endeavor dear. Congratulations for a successful completion of the course.
@doloprecious3, congratulations for a successful completion of the course. We wish you all the best in your endeavor.
The information received was informative and useful.
Good attempt
Scope for improvement
me too. i have the same feeling
I was so amazed in learning that charity wasn't just as I thought of before and that it's meant more than helping those in need as fundraisers and donors think of it.
@firdousmala, thanks for the complement, and congratulations for completing the course successfully.
@Here, I wish to congratulate each one of you for staying through to completion of the course. Well done and we wish you the best in your individual endeavor.
Thanks buddy for that, i appreciate
By completing this course, I have gained a good foundation to support and work with our internal fundraising team and also to increase my fundraising activities for our charity. In the next 3 months I will look to focus my learnings on finding out more about a particular area of fundraising which is a growth area of our charity and which is very new to me – Legacy and Individual Giving.
@CDinwoodie, congratulations for a successful completion of the course. We wish you all the best in your endeavor. Do not forget to invite others to participate in the PhilanthropyU courses.
In the next month, I will definitely like like to take one of Tom Wolf's other Philanthropy University courses, Fundraising: Connecting with Donors or Fundraising Strategies
@MQR, your endeavor is in the right direction. I wish you all the best, and believe you will be impressed to take-up those courses as you suggested.
I really enjoyed the course. I got a very good theoretical foundation to the things I alreay knew from working. I will also enrol in other courses to intensify my knowledge. Thanks!!!
It was a good intro course. Thank you.
This course has been a very helpful first step into the world of fundraising. I'm thankful to know the 7 myths of fundraising, and to now have a grasp on fundraising vocabulary. This course was an essential building block on my fundraising journey.
I have learnt so much. This course has helped you
me to do more in the area of fundraising for my organisation
i have learned a lot .
Good morning,
I enjoyed all the strategies obtained in this course. I look forward to seeking donors that will bring a win-win for both sides. In addition, I plan to explore in more detail the Society for Nonprofits website. I believe this website can share resources to enhance the organizations connections and fundraising.
Good morning,
I agree this class has enhanced my confidence to fundraise more effectively.
In the next month I will focus on raising awareness about our organization through social media. I will also begin writing letters to introduce us to local politicians and tell them our recent news. I will also take the next course in the Fundraising Basics certification.
After module 2, I feel like I’m really learning fundamental steps in starting my own non profit. Thank you for these lessons.
I'm going to take another Philanthropy University course on fundraising
@thankful, please do not limit your search to the Society for Nonprofits website. In addition to that, you can search other websites for laudable response.
@swescobedo, we wish you all the best in your endeavor, and thank you for staying to complete the course.
You are most welcome @eeflavin.
@HannaHHI, we wish you success in your endeavor.
This course is a very useful one. It was worth my time.
Courtesy of this course, I will first facilitate a team building exercise to step down this knowledge to our team and work from there to explore options to effectively fund-raise given these new learning.
I worked as a philanthropist in many areas but the knowledge i gain from here is outstanding, I am very satisfied & happy for doing this course, it really works and helped me, thank you.
yaaa haalloooooo
The session is so inspiring. It opened my eyes to why donors are not donating to my program.
I run RAD5 Tech Hub, a profit-based organization - Our mission is to actively promote the economic growth of Africa through technology education and entreprenuership that is consistent, scale-able, affordable, and accessible to over 20 million young persons within the Niger Delta and Southeast Nigeria. In 5years we have reached over 1 thousand youths.
We run more of social impact projects like TeenHack - https://teenhack.org.ng but have never gotten a support though it appeals to users.
after this i am very interested in taking one of Tom Wolf's other Philanthropy University courses, Fundraising: Connecting with Donors or Fundraising Strategies.
We will create a list of potential donors that are a good fit and send them an introductory email and next month we will follow up with phone calls if dont get a reponse.

great idea! ill follow up with the other courses as well.
Definitely sitting down with my team as well to create new strategies.
This has been an interesting course, and definitely an eye opener. What I will do differently are: having a structured accountability pattern for my organization, which would be valuable at the next fundraiser we would have. This fundraiser would only attract donors whom we consider are a good strategic fit for our organization and the work we do.
nice day!
The information I received is very helpful and instructive. If I'm asked to help out in the fundraising department I feel that I am now much better suited for the job.
@XLR8R, I am glad and pleased you feel this way as of now. Do well to spread the knowledge acquired from the course to the world.
