Hello all,
Let's keep our views coming in on this Module 2, as well let's get prepared for module 3 to let us know your learnt via the link https://community.philanthropyu.org/discussions/topic/3247/module-3-obedience-and-inquiry starting 9 June.
Wishing us all happy learning.
Before going through the Module 2, I used to think ___ my initiative won't make it , but now __ i am fully inspired__.
Before going to module 2, I have no idea and how relavant is otganiorgani chart but after finishing the module I believe that there is no active and goal determined organization without organization chart.
Its good to analyze our planning in a short, medium and long way, Know were we are going and plan in an longer way. Incllude the team in all the journey and have the correct divisions in teh organization .
Prior to now, I had a vague understanding of the Organizational Chart.
However, now I have come to understand that it is key to laying down a crucial structural foundation of the internal relationships and talent needs within the workplace. It is also a clear indicator of the existing ranks and various reporting channels, as well as key functions therein.
@TheSouthAfricanist @Seanjurne @Alesamra @ADENFLOSSY , i really appreciate and like the way you responded to this promptly. By the way, what changes do you plan to make at your organization after completing this module?
Please keep your views coming ok. We need them to impact us....!

The changes I will be bringing in is actually "broadcasting" our values and the strategy to all of our team members so that they KNOW they are important. I will be introducing monthly lunches to recap on how everyone is doing and from the first one there, I will be getting them to come up with ideas as how we can work on our team work strategies etc.

@CindyKoen, I am indeed impressed with your perspective of change you aspire to bring to your organization. Keep it up as is a good one indeed.
Thank you for sharing
I have learnt a lot from Modules 1 to 4 and the changes I plan to make at my organisation will be translating my organization's values into my organization's culture. This can be done by sensitizing my team members and fellow colleagues. i will also re brand the values of my organization.
I will also ensure that my human capital strategy is aligning with the reality of my organization and the environment in which it operates. In the educational sector, there are competitors but what will make my organization stand out will be investing in human capital strategy and building a connection between communication and collaboration across my organization.
I intend to hire the right hand for the job using the four phases of hiring. A highly motivated employee will give the best. Through goal setting and achieving those goals within the time frame and setting a reward system that is functional will go a long way to reduce staff turnover.
Before going to module two i used to think its not a must for the organisation structure to change as it grows but now i know that the organisation structure changes as there is more growth.
Before going through the module 2, I used to think on the simplicity of the original structure, narrowing the structure just from the superior to the subordinates down, but now I have learn the critical dimensional of an organization structures from the starting point to next future and years after.

Do have a restful weekend and an impacting new week ahead!
Before going through the Module 2, I used to think of practical short term plans; taking one step at a time, but now I learnt a clear value statement, vision and mission can guide an organization into mapping a biz model and growth chart to help the organization scale.
BEFORE GOING THROUGH MODULE TWO,I DIDN'T KNOW THAT MATRIX IS ONE WAY PEOPLE CAN BE GROUPED OTHER THAN FUCTIONAL,DIVISIONAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL
Before going through this module, I used to think setting up an organisation require only capital but now I know that the growth of an organisation can be drafted even at birth. And that organisation are structured base on the mission of the organisation. I am happy I took this course.
This module is an eye opener for me. I have realized that Organization chart/structure has to be divided into Geographical, division, functional and matrix (depending on the Organization and this can be modified to suit any Organization).
Also, i have realized that a holistic view of the Organization taking into consideration future growth and expansion must be considered when planning an Organization chart.
Hello
I am Bushra Rana from Pakistan. I really like the way you responded to this prompt are you currently running an organization?
what is the take away from this module that you feel will help you in your work?
Hello

@Seanjurne, I really like the way you responded to this prompt. Meanwhile, what is/are those positive changes you intend to bring to your organization after acquiring the skills and knowledge?
Before I did this module module, I used to think that, the organizational chart/structure is just a decoration but now I've come to realize what it meant in terms of function, division, matrix and geographical aspects of an org.!
After the model 2 I now know the value of plan for growth.
Participating in this assignment and the lessons learnt from the case studies have been quite insightful on valuable considerations for human resource planning for organizational growth.
Before going through module 2 I did not know that organizational models could be grouped into four organizational structures such as geographic, divisional, functional and matrix. I worked at a University and the organizational model can get very complex. Module 2 help me to understand it a lot more.
Before going through this module I didn't see the need for drawing an organisational chart but I know better now.
@JosephMuchina @arosmay20 @Odede @ayannagenas @MichaelKusinu, i really like the way you responded to this prompt. What other changes do you plan to make at your organization after completing this module?

I plan to adapt the new organizational chart to the running of my NGO immediately. I think prompt application of knowledge produces outstanding result. This module is impactful!
"Before going through the Module 2, I used to think_____________________________, but now I _______________________________________."
I used to think I understood how the organizational team should grow, but now I realized it's little bit different than expected.
It has given me detail understanding of Organizational structure , stakeholders and the role of Team in Organizational Building and Strategy Planning for growth and success.
I never really had a clearly structured business model and Organization Chart, but have currently designed one to guide us.

Now, i really like to know,
1- what you think before about organization structure?
2- what changes do you plan to make at your organization after completing this module?
I used to think one can start up an organization without drawing the organizational chart or structure but now these assignment exposed me into different groups that could work independently to achieve the organization's objectives
BEFORE GOING THROUGH THE MODULE 2 I USED TO THINK THAT ORGANISATIONS STRUCTURE FOLLOW THE SAME PATTERN, BUT NOW I SEE THEY CAN BE CATEGORIZED USING FOUR DIFFERENT STRUCTURES,NAMELY GEOGRAPHIC,DIVISIONAL,FUNCTIONAL AND MATRIX RESPECTIVELY.

Before going through module2, I used to think the the time spent in preparing organizational chart was a wasted time. After going through the module, I have come to the realization that without an Org, Chart, my organization's direction would not be focused, I would not know exactly what positions are needed at include as the organizations grows. This module has helped also to be in a position to design more complex Org Charts.
Before going through the module 2, i used to think that organization is just for people to come together to work, but now i have realized that organization consist of different teams and structures.

Before going through this module, I did not know that I had to set a calendar for performance management. My performance monitoring system lacked many of those formalities shown in the module. I learned a great deal about employee motivation. Thanks a lot!
I can't help but agree that this course has exposed me to a lot things I used to take granted, such as :
Organization chart and valves. I have also come to understand that they are not mere formalities because they are part of the corner stone that form the strong pillar of any successful organization.

I'm extremely finding it difficult to finish the assignment. I have completed my assignment to Module 5 except for the summary that requires slides. How am I supposed to do that? I do not know how to create slides. Is it compulsory I do it especially now that I am running out of time?

Hi @Amandi, you have done well thus far. For the slide, please don't be troubled okay. You can get that done easily through Microsoft PowerPoint application. Kindly, see this link below for an explicit hints/guides/chart flow on how to do that.

I pray this will help you achieve that.
Likewise, don't hesitate to intimate me when faced with other challenges on that.

Organisational Charts are critical in understanding how your organisation stands in the short, medium and long term. Going through this exercise helps me understand how this affects the operations of my NGO
Organisational chart has help me with an overview of key considerations as we plan towards the future. It has helped to crystallize our organisational direction and what is needed to achieve success.
i used to think that structures or charts of command are just a waste of time but now i realize that they play a very big role in shaping the culture of the organisation but also facilitates action as every body is aware where to report or get information
