TO find viability of any particular project you need to do evaluation and ensure what you had planned is achieve and if not achieved you measure and established the reasons why it was not possible .This will enables you to do a monitoring exercise to see the progress of that project.

M&E plan is crated at the beginning of any project. It is important to develop and M&E plan because:
it provides a way to assess the crucial link between implementer and beneficiaries on the ground and decision-makers;
M&E plan Clarifies program objectives, Links activities and their resources to objectives, Translates objectives into performance indicators and sets targets, Routinely collects data on these indicators, compares actual results with targets

And Reports progress to managers and alerts them to problems

M&E Plan gives information on where a policy, program or project is at any given time (or over time) relative to respective targets and outcomes. Monitoring focuses in particular on efficiency, and the use of resources.

Dear MEH Project Manager, I think you should create an M&E plan because of two key benefits associated with both the monitoring and evaluation components of this exercise.

1. Monitoring allows you to determine REACH ( breadth and depth)
   Developing an M&E allows you to think more critically about how many beneficiaries you plan to reach and the type of beneficiaries you want to impact the most. An M&E component allows you to monitor just how many beneficiaries are being impacted by your project (breadth) as well as the characteristics (depth) of these beneficiaries- which I believe is equally important. In the case of MEH, this would be how many girls have collected loans from MEH and notable characteristics of these girls such as age, household income, family size, distance from loans facility etc. I believe this is important as it provides a comprehensive description of your beneficiaries and provides greater insight into the results of your programme. For example, you can observe any patterns that might emerge from girls from a certain background, and their likelihood of success within your programme. You can also flag the more vulnerable groups and tailor your intervention to provide a more targeted approached. And finally, a comprehensive understanding of who your targeted beneficiaries are instils more donor confidence into your organisation as it shows you've done your homework and the ability to perhaps deliver a more nuanced intervention.

2. Evaluation provides evidence of impact
   An M&E plan gives you the opportunity to clearly define your goals and identify the indicators that demonstrate success. Once you have identified these metrics, it makes it easier to collect data and provide evidence of your impact. Evidence of impact is invaluable, not only does it demonstrate that your intervention is successful, but it also tells you how successful it is or vice versa, and how to adjust accordingly. I totally agree with you. Its like a journey from point A to point B(outcomes) on foot. First to have progress there needs to be steps taken i.e walking, however this walking shouldn't be random it should be towards point B. Between point A and B there are landmarks e.g road signs that tell you how many more kilometers/miles are left towns etc and these become short term outputs to say if we moving towards B we should pass this and that at a certain distance(s). M&E helps to review whether there is progress and whether progress in the right direction towards achieving our outcomes/objectives

A project’s success depends on well planned project execution and an efficient tool to monitor the project as to track if the things are on track, and an evaluation plan to assess the success of the project or the shortcomings, hence an efficient M&E plan is fateful. Donors always want value for money. Even though organizations have others ways of reporting such successes to donors, like submiting monthly/quarterly/anual financial and program progress reports, M & E plan would give the true position of the project vis-a-vis the initially planned objectives. It will be very hard to measure the success of the project without an elaborate M&E plan, and the MEH's Project Manager should be able to appreciate this.

well articulated. Let the manager consider having a M&E plan.

The reasons I found convincing include:

1. To gain M&E skills to better projects implementation in my organization.
2. To explore new career in M& E field and project management areas.
3. To advance my skills in the field of my practice,M&E.
4. To learn basics of M&E so that, as a project manager, I can supervise smoothly the external experts who are executing M & E activities in the organization.
   I think they missed to mention learning M& E purely for the adventure to learn new thing. Since learning new thing without a reason is the best reason to learn it better and without pressure.

It is better to start with what we are doing. But it is not enough to know. It is important to track to know what we are doing is match with what we want to do. We understand this we should have proper M&E plan which we guide us outcome of our action. It will give us clear and scientific picture of outcome of our action. Without it we will be kicking the ball without having any direction.
