Unintended consequences must not be overlooked and avoided. As any philanthropic work must not come in the sacrifice of environment, society, health and the well-being of people.

  • Sustainability is one of the most important factor for consideration of implementing a project. Sustainable development requires much efforts and genuine concern for the community. If the project is just to use up the fund and utilize it to help for short-term then, it's basically a way of helping which hurt the community.

Along the implementation, there are many unintended consequences of the input and activities done. It could be positive or negative consequences which may impact the success of the project.

  • An unintended consequence is that suppliers of plywood from outside the region, who would have been willing to supply plywood quickly at the higher market price, are less willing to do so at the government-controlled price. Thus results a shortage of a good where it is badly needed.

  • A positive unintended consequence is an unanticipated benefit that emerges from an action. Adam Smith's notion of the “invisible hand” is one example of a positive unintended consequence. Smith famously argued that each individual pursuing his own ends generates widespread benefits beyond that individual

  • Detailed assessment would help to overcome the unintended consequences.

  • Yeah is part of all acyivities

  • Though being aware how can we the the future unseen consequences

  • HOW TO MANAGE RISK
Identifying risks ahead of time is essential. Providing a framework for identifying risks, assessing how serious they are, and creating a mitigation plan.

  • Unintended questions are of course challenging to navigate as you/your organization could go into a situation or a plan with the best intentions at heart, but still miss something or end up having a negative impact in some aspect. I think it is definitely important to do as much research as possible into the issue at hand and into your solution. Has something like this been attempted before? Has it failed or been successful? Why or why not? I also think it is essential to be in tune with the community and/or population you are serving. It's important to make sure their voices are heard and amplified, and the solution or work you are providing is coming from a place or knowledge and understanding.

  • Creating a risk register and profering mitigating strategies is a very veritable way of arresting the impact of unintended consequences on project performance. It is very important to recognise the fact that things could go wrong caused by factors outside the country of the project so that you can develop strategies in the event that it crystalises.

  • 95% possibility that they may exist

  • Just the agencies working alone can't make a change but it's a responsibiity of the society to be an inclusive part in making the effort a success,as they have the ability to negate most of the unintended consequences.

  • It is a definitely a question that we ask ourselves all the time and we analyse every project development and its implementation. For example, we didn't intend create less performing staff at our hospital, by employing our own beneficiaries that our hospital helped. They got non medical employment as the support staff based on their story and our intend to help them and their families but it did not help our hospital's operations rather their lack of experience, will or education would affect our operations and they had become a liability to our organization in the long run.

There are three categories of sustainability:
    Environmental Sustainability
Ecological integrity is maintained, all of earth’s environmental
systems are kept in balance while natural resources within
them are consumed by humans at a rate where they are able
    to replenish themselves.
    Economic Sustainability
Human communities across the globe are able to maintain
their independence and have access to the resources that they
require, financial and other, to meet their needs. Economic
systems are intact and activities are available to everyone,
such as secure sources of livelihood.
    Social Sustainability
Universal human rights and basic necessities are attainable
by all people, who have access to enough resources in order
to keep their families and communities healthy and secure.
Healthy communities have just leaders who ensure personal,
labour and cultural rights are respected and all people are
    protected from discrimination

  • Unintended outcomes can be negative or positive. Negative outcomes must be tackled adequately and promptly.

  • I love this module.. i think i learnt a lot

  • Rather than viewing unintended consequences as failures, we can treat them as learning opportunities. They underscore the need for holistic approaches, collaborative efforts, and adaptive strategies that account for the complexities of the social landscape. By staying humble, responsive, and open to course corrections, social enterprises can work towards mitigating unintended consequences while amplifying their positive impact."

  • Sustainability involves practices that balance economic, social, and environmental factors to ensure long-term well-being. Likelihood of success refers to the probability of achieving desired outcomes in a given endeavor, considering various factors like resources and market conditions. Unintended outcomes are unforeseen consequences, positive or negative, resulting from actions or decisions. Understanding and managing these outcomes is vital for effective decision-making.
