Yes, I hope the crowd funding will continue to help small organizations. Many small organizations find it difficult to get grants since they are not able to meet up with some of the requirements. Through crowd funding they can achieve their cause.
Having a solid content plan will help in tapping into community social media. One needs to map out the network in advance so as to be successful.
Its also a great lesson that you need to thank the donors and engaged them through out the year.
I am happy to be part of the online community. Social impact is a tool that helps to keep engaged your proje
its great
It was very interesting to know that rather than directly look for donors using social media, it is better to create a sense of belonging to the cause itself, and raise awareness
It is true. With my charity I have worked mainly with a microdonations platform that allowed us to get some basic funding to operate, but getting big grands continues to be an issue. I hope I can implement some of the tips shared in this course
One tip I learned from Kavita is the need to get the community involved especially the millenials and give them a sense of belonging by providing them a platform where they can even ask questions
I totally agree with you, I like the social media funding concept because it gives you a wide range of audience to engage in and possible getting more funding than the usual.
I have some familiarity about crowdfunding but it is interesting to know about all the resources out there that exist that might eliminate the need to create one's own website to engage donors
Great, it's a step that allows your organization to move on the right track.
This brightens out the future of any nonprofit organization.
I mostly agree with you on this concept notes.
This is the best way moving forward
I think it's important to understand and steps involved
That's why I have decided to take on this great course
It also helps in making the right decision.
All of the information in this course are important to any organization's growth and development
Building a community or tribe is important. Social media is a great way to do that.
Sharing experiences and activities is quite important. It allows for you to connect with people that may be in other countries and it provides more of a reason for them to donate.
The examples given in the course regarding crowdfunding and how to best go about implementing it, were outstanding. We will be using many of the suggested strategies.
Agreed! Excellent course and content.
Totally agree with you. The "sense of belonging" does provide for an additional insentive for folks to donate. You belong to something, you donate to the cause.
The entire approach present regarding crowdfunding was very well done. For those of us who have donated via crowdfunding before know the other end of it...the donor end. But the creator of the crowdfunding request part of all this, was new to me and thus provided for a great learning experience.
creating a tribe and giving people a sense of belonging was my biggest take from it. i absolutely loved the session
engaging fans and also giving them a good sense of belonging
yes it is
totally agree with that
yes it is and this course elaborated on it
create a sense of belonging among communities and also our post on social media mustn't always about giving and donation but also learning to engage people about cultural and sensitive issues for community capacity building also.
learnt how to engage people on the media and also create a sense of belonging.
Informative
I really didn't know that I could carry out crowdfunding effectively on social media but the podcast has enlighten me on all I need to know. Especially the point where she said we could use to internet to develop our community and also engaging them on the aspect of our project.
Absolutely, I also did love that .
Informative
Very true
Yes I agree with you on that point.
awesomely good
good job chinaza
Having a smart goal and keeping your donors engaged
Exactly....aside having a smart goal, one must keep his or her donors engaged
Having a big day is a really great idea but I think it needs a lot of preparations
Same here, it's really an aspect to look into
Exactly, especially when the best practices strategies are being deployed
The crowd funding connects small donors and support the program for longer years.
Crowdfunding is essential for a Non Profit Organization but it should be planned creatively to build credibility for the donors.
One thing I've learned is to use social media to create a sense of belonging I always assumed it was another way to mobilize funds. But users especially millennials need to be engaged and feel like they belong to a cause. Also coordinating a couple of offline activities with the online crowdfunding initiative is another thing I've taught myself
this program is very good and important
The Crowdfunding tip that I learned from the podcast that I didn't know before is the practice of Crowdfunding.
I did no know that crowdfunding was a method or raising small amounts of money from a large number of people and that it can be used in an online fundraising campaign. My personal approach was to rely on a very small pool of wealthy donor organizations leaving me in a very depressed and confused frame of mind after being denied a grant.
Now I know that I can find a fundraising platform that will help me use crowdfunding of many individuals to try to reach my fundraising or sales goals.
Awesome course
Turning my contacts into donors
was really a great idea
I have that the use social media to source funding for a cause. I really like the story of Kavita
Initially, I assumed that you can use social media to directly fundraise, but now I have learned that it is a tool to raise awareness about the cause for which you are trying to raise funds.
The best thing I get to know about this is that by the way of crowdfunding a organisation can generate a huge amount of fund and it is good for the organisation

I learned about the crowdfunding that the most important things are a good story and pictures, SMART goal and creating sense of belongingness. I think that these are good highlights for all fundraising communication.
In this podcast, Kavita made mention of the importance of a good story in the crowdfunding campaign. That was different for me.
One of the social media crowdfunding tips that I have learnt is that I can share content on the cause that I am campaigning for on social media regularly, getting people engaged on the matter; thereby creating a community of supporters who can donate when eventually I start making the “ask”.
You are very correct. Just as in for-profit business, social media should be used to relate with potential donors/customers, engaging them, offering useful tips to them, responding to their questions and giving them a sense of belongingness/ community despite aiming to sell products or in this case request for donations (though it must be done tactfully to avoid sending the wrong message to the donors) and scaring them away.
I have learned effective social media fundraising strategies. Thank you philanthropy University and kevita
I have heard about crowdfunding for years but never really understood the ins and outs of it. The lesson in this module really gave me a good idea of what CF is and how my organization can utilize CF for our fundraising program. I look forward to starting my first CF campaign!
Exactly! So much good information in this module!
I look forward to finding the best platform for my org and starting my first crowdfunding campaign!
I think the tip about creating a community so donors and potential donors can feel like they belong and they are a part of a group is very interesting.
We try to do that by sharing show cases from our organization! It feels like the donors or potential donors get to know the stories of the people they are helping by donating.
This is a really important idea, specifically because social media can overload their users with information.
I am grateful for learning how important is to create a community with our donors. Also, to reinforce a belonging sense for improving my outcomes in online crowdfunding.
One of the strategies I learned in this module is that we must take advantage of social networks to generate a community of followers, in addition to being able to raise awareness in society, create a communication system with donors, volunteers and other stakeholders.
The best strategy I heard on the podcast is that we should take advantage of social networks to create an active community of volunteers and future donors. That we should always generate questions of interaction among all
be clear
Make summary.
Show the mission.
Create community.
To interact.
Take advantage of social networks to communicate about my mission, and my fundraising campaigns.
Yes, there are some valid points being made here. I think, and this is just my opinion, that a lot more work needs to be done to bring this crowdfunding idea into fruition and bring it to market. But it is a good start!
Yes, you make some very good points! I also think that social media has great potential, even with all its short comings, to facilitate authentic communications and community building. Using crowdfunding as a tool to communicate your program and raise funds, is a great combination.
I thought using social media as a communication tool, in this case in finding funding for a program, is a great way to both raise needed funds and communicate the work you are doing. Additionally, it brings regular people into the mix and allows them to join projects they believe in! A great dynamic!
Yes, crowdfunding allows us to both communicate our work, connect with people we might otherwise not be able to connect with, and raise funds at the same time. I think the whole concept of crowdfunding, assuming it is done with good/open intentions, is wonderful and I look forward to putting my first campaign together! I wish you the best with your work!

The session is interesting.
Creating cause-based community and doing crowdfunding was the best part.
les réseaux sociaux offrent la possibilité de toucher plus de monde et sans frontière , c'est simplement impressionnant
Not useful in directly mobilizing donors - important new information for me.
Good points about using it appropriately. I did not consider LinkedIn appropriate for fundraising (although I have provided information as a professional). I will look to see what others have done in this regard for charity work.
It was great and will help me alot
Thanks
I think, one of best practices is sharing the ressults of interventions or activities, to raise awareness about the organization
learnt that social media should majorly be used in building a sense of belonging; and explaining the goals of your project
I learned that social media is not used to directly convert contacts into donors but rather to create a sense of belonging and community
Perfect, had the exact same learning
In the podcast they shared some new insight on how to create an online community through social media.
Social media is a great way to communicate with the outside world. You can share goals as well as celebrating when you have accomplished those goals.
Actually, after this module i can see and everybody see if you do your campaign well and target the right people all over network with a detailed short video that can show that your foundation deserve trust and has a good reputation combined with great touchable services we can see social media nowadays can be the most viral successful way to built your foundation and serve the world with good services .
thank you professor a great course with a great added value for our minds.
Social media is really a great way to find funders. I have learnt that engagement and clear stories help attract donors

I've not done much with crowdfunding.
My experience with crowdfunding is limited.
I understand that crowdfunding helps in keeping donors engaged - by allowing them to focus on a specific need.
Crowdfunding is an art i guess.
The idea of pairing an in-person event with an online fundraising campaign on a themed day related to your cause is very interesting!
One tip I learned was the need to mix offline activities with online crowdfunding activities. If we have a multi-country crowdfunding campaign, for example, having an in-person event in each country can help mobilize more donors or at least spread our story locally.
I have learnt that one of the biggest misunderstanding about social media is that it can be used to convert contacts into donors, and that you need to create a community of donors.
The greatest tip I've learned was the smart goal plan which I'll be applying now to make fundraising successful
I didn't know that you can use social media to raise funds before
