I really liked this module because it gives clear cloudfunding strategies
This podcast was full of important insightful tips, but the best part was that a Globalgiving employee gave all of these tips. The organization I am currently working for has been a partner of this platform for over 6 years, and I still continue to learn more and more from this platform despite the years. But what stood out for me the most was the tip about trying to get one large donor or a couple of large donors that are already in your network to give a sum in advance as matching, and use this large sum that you get as matching to encourage alot of new smaller donations to come in. I did not know about this tip, and never really thought about other ways we can use these large funds instead of immediately allocating it to projects.
Yes, this is very important. In our organization for many years we have kept this as a key part of all of our email campaigns, project reports and appeals, and we always use either stories from our past members or current participants of our organization or stories from long-time volunteers. We try our best to always to have a trajectory in saying a story, especially with the success stores we share of our organization because it shows the impact our intervention provided our community which always benefits the children who are currently struggling, as the stories prove to these children that things can get better, no matter how difficult their circumstances are.
engaging people with activities and interactions is something that i did not think about earlier.
very helpful content and engagement
Social media is a great and effect tool to raise awareness. Apps so interconnected, one can get a community together so fast
Creating and cultivating a donor community. It's often so easy to just ask for money but never establishing that sense of belonging among donors.
I have just learned that even online it is necessary to thank the donor at least in 48 hours something that I did not know before
engaging with supporters by building a community
I learnt how to perform a successful crowdfunding event on Internet.
Awesome!!!
Am also impressed by the tips given
its a very educative pod cast which has made me see things differently.
I loved the tip about developing an online community of people with similar interests and passions.
The most useful tip I learned focused on building a community of supporters, rather than simply advertising and marketing your mission.
Awesome!!!

Before learning from this module I thought that Social media can be used to directly convert contacts into donors;but I have learnt that they should be tools to build that community a sense of belongingness towards the cause that Iam trying to raise funds for more than to directly mobilize fund.

Hello, My name is Elibarick from Tanzania, happy to be here
One social media practice I have learnt is to make the most out of your close people and use them as ambassadors for your matter
One social media practice I have learnt is to make the most out of your close people and use them as ambassadors for your matter
I guess the best tip of social media is that you don't need to offer to someone in particular way. It is seen for everyone as on stage.
excelent
The striking tip that really appealed to me was that of frequently asking people for donations, which is discouraged as it has a tendency of put off some individuals. So discretion must be observed.
This one was great too, we have a tendency of forgetting people who are close to us.
I don't really like social networks, but listening to the podcast makes a lot of sense, since it is true that many people today spend almost all day on social networks, especially millennials, and it is an effective way to reach all kinds of audiences.
According to you, it is that I think that it is easier for an awareness campaign to get more donors who will come directly to one. For example, if someone spoke to me on social networks that I don't know, I wouldn't even look at the message, but it would be easier for me to see a donation campaign or a specific cause.
Quite so!
One crowdfunding tip i learnt is to have SMART goals
What is one social media best practice or crowdfunding tip that you learned from this podcast that you didn’t know before?
I learned about the matching opportunity when a larger donor donates .
Good comment has made me understood deeply
Some of the places are huge needs more money to invest to get big projects to be done
TO BE A GLOBAL AND MODERN PROFESSIONAL, PERFECTLY.
I love this idea as well. I think that polls are a great way to pull people in.
One thing I learned from the podcast that I thought was insightful was being sure to share stories with a specific way to address the problem. Call people in to be a part of the solution even by your social media posts.
To keep the donors engaged throughout year and also sending a thank you note within 48 hours of donation.
That is very true
Everything is fine! The course is positive
What is one social media best practice or crowdfunding tip that you learned from this podcast that you didn’t know before?
I never thought about using SMART goals to plan for Crowdfunding.
It also helps to develop a solid content plan; learn your community's social media habits to increase engagement.
Love this. I hope that crowdfunding will continue to promote smaller organizations as we continue to develop in the age of technology
I have never heard that there is any platform that can assist in fundraising talk less of crowd-fundraising. Thanks to Kavita for enlightenment on steps to take in choosing a platform that will suit my organization mission through knowing the mission of that platform, existing project, fee, features and benefit, credibility of such platform among other factors.
Also, its explanation on crowd funding is superb by getting started with smart goal, great story, mapping out network, identifying advocates , preparation to share , communication etc. With these skills that I have been exposed to, I belief my fundraising skills are greatly improved. My hands are now on desk on how these skills will be implemented for the benefit of my organization.
Yes, I hope the crowd funding will continue to help small organizations. Many small organizations find it difficult to get grants since they are not able to meet up with some of the requirements. Through crowd funding they can achieve their cause.
Having a solid content plan will help in tapping into community social media. One needs to map out the network in advance so as to be successful.
Its also a great lesson that you need to thank the donors and engaged them through out the year.
I am happy to be part of the online community. Social impact is a tool that helps to keep engaged your proje
its great
It was very interesting to know that rather than directly look for donors using social media, it is better to create a sense of belonging to the cause itself, and raise awareness
It is true. With my charity I have worked mainly with a microdonations platform that allowed us to get some basic funding to operate, but getting big grands continues to be an issue. I hope I can implement some of the tips shared in this course
One tip I learned from Kavita is the need to get the community involved especially the millenials and give them a sense of belonging by providing them a platform where they can even ask questions
I totally agree with you, I like the social media funding concept because it gives you a wide range of audience to engage in and possible getting more funding than the usual.
I have some familiarity about crowdfunding but it is interesting to know about all the resources out there that exist that might eliminate the need to create one's own website to engage donors
Great, it's a step that allows your organization to move on the right track.
This brightens out the future of any nonprofit organization.
I mostly agree with you on this concept notes.
This is the best way moving forward
I think it's important to understand and steps involved
That's why I have decided to take on this great course
It also helps in making the right decision.
All of the information in this course are important to any organization's growth and development
Building a community or tribe is important. Social media is a great way to do that.
Sharing experiences and activities is quite important. It allows for you to connect with people that may be in other countries and it provides more of a reason for them to donate.
The examples given in the course regarding crowdfunding and how to best go about implementing it, were outstanding. We will be using many of the suggested strategies.
Agreed! Excellent course and content.
Totally agree with you. The "sense of belonging" does provide for an additional insentive for folks to donate. You belong to something, you donate to the cause.
The entire approach present regarding crowdfunding was very well done. For those of us who have donated via crowdfunding before know the other end of it...the donor end. But the creator of the crowdfunding request part of all this, was new to me and thus provided for a great learning experience.
creating a tribe and giving people a sense of belonging was my biggest take from it. i absolutely loved the session
engaging fans and also giving them a good sense of belonging
yes it is
totally agree with that
yes it is and this course elaborated on it
create a sense of belonging among communities and also our post on social media mustn't always about giving and donation but also learning to engage people about cultural and sensitive issues for community capacity building also.
learnt how to engage people on the media and also create a sense of belonging.
Informative
I really didn't know that I could carry out crowdfunding effectively on social media but the podcast has enlighten me on all I need to know. Especially the point where she said we could use to internet to develop our community and also engaging them on the aspect of our project.
Absolutely, I also did love that .
Informative
Very true
Yes I agree with you on that point.
