Selling to beneficiaries on a monetary level wouldn't work in our organization as the beneficiaries are extremely poor. Earning about $2 a day and feeding a family and paying rent is nearly impossible. We would rather give them as much as possible - especially during the pandemic (we had an emergency relief fund from April until December) and feed and clothe their children at school - where we provide education. The parents and guardians "pay back" as respected members of our organizations community by cooking, cleaning and farming for example. So I suppose that could be a form of "selling to beneficiaries".
Agreed Brique. In low income zones especially is Sub Saharian Africa and South America the exchange of food and medicines for short time labor builds symbiotic strong relationships with the communities.
I think selling to beneficiaries could work if you come from a wealthy background. If not, it makes it a lot more difficult.
But you can adopt pay as you earn strategy as way of sustaining your organization beyond donor's funding
When you conduct earning analysis you might be surprise at your findings
It actually depends on who you are selling to and how you are selling to them. All or most third world countries have two main income groups - Rich or Poor. Appeal to the rich man's ego to pay for the poor man's cause
True,
It soley dependant on the beneficiaries ability to affort your services or goods.
Good to look it before deciding whether it wil be source of revenue or payback services
Selling to beneficiaries also has to do with what the beneficiaries need and the extent to which the non profit can subsidize the cost (making them to pay less compared to prevailing market price).
@Brique . couldn't agree more with you. there's many regions of the World such in Asia , South America and some regions of the African Continent who can't afford certain amenities would be the most beneficiary of your organization as long there's source of revenue for your Organization thru reliable donations (charity).
Selling to beneficiaries will work but would require a lot of effort inorder to make the beneficiaries see reasons to pay for the services rendered
