The discussion of risks and assumptions has helped me to understand the importance of being flexible as a project manager.
The issue here is that identifying the risks and assumptions is not done in isolation. You will have collected a lot of data about your indicators and the project in general and this means that your decision will be data driven. Moreover, you will be working on a schedule to ensure that unforeseen events do not adversely affect your implementation time frame. I think it is safe to make time a constraint and plan for it in your projects. In other words, M&E is related to planning in project management.

Anticipating, planning and managing risks and assumptions is crucial. This is because we live in a world that is dynamic and the environment is turbulent such that events or news can happen that can shock the economy, industries and even the project you are working on.
This means now you need to be proactive, have ways to manage the project well, manage the expect ations of the stakeholders, review targets initially set and revise them, then communicate with the stakeholders of the impediments and how these have affected the projected.
It could be the project may have to be postponed or cancelled, or deadlines might have to be shifted. It is important on a project to ensure quality, communication and expectation s are managed properly hence the need to be well organized, monitoring and evaluating at every step of the way till the project is delivered
