My name is Chris, and I live in West Virginia in the United States.

I work in higher education and recently had the opportunity to apply to serve on a nonprofit board. Current board members have told me that the organization has a need for strategic planning. In anticipation of joining the board (and with the hope of expanding my skills in my professional life), I signed up for this class.

I am most excited for module four, as I want to think more about how the objectives I lay out in a strategic planning process align with the goals of that plan.

  • A problem statement is the most important aspect of an organization's strategy because it is where everything starts. It is a statement that identifies a problem that an organization intends to tackle. And in tackling the problem, the organization should understand the problem deeply such that effective strategies are laid.
