  • is there a limit on the number of stakeholders to be involved in a project?

  • what if disagreements arise among staff members of a stakeholder, what happens?

  • all projects that are grassroots based mostly succeed

  • Best way to engage is to first build trust with families and daughters. Tell them about your project and then educate them upon reproductive health, educate girls on safe sex, communicate with them , email them, invite mothers and daughters both so the mother knows what’s the purpose behind the Roots of Health services.

  • Open forums, advisory or focus groups
    Online engagement tools

The best way to engage the families who are concerned and have questions about the root health services is sensitization, organizing an open dialogue workshop where the families will be invited to share their questions and concerns and the project staffs along with an expert will respond to them and also share the successes achieved in other communities as a result of the project to the parents.

  • I think there is no best engagement method, it is depends on the the steps which Amina followed that helps to understand the local context and the stakeholders need and interest.

  • To come up with best engagement method that appropriate for the needs and interests of the stakeholders, there must be quick assessment that gives us the right tools.

  • This is a 2way communication that involves the elite

  • This is inform, involve and update method

  • Open workshop and seminar. Limited 2 way communication.

  • This can be done by bulletin, focused groups, and survey.

  • Open forum, focused groups.

  • Report, internet, partnership

  • Involvement, open forum

  • Survey, workshop and seminar.

  • Focused groups, open forum to get them involved.

  • My achieved engagement goal was 45% against 70%. The goal was not achieved because of poor level of language understanding. Engagement review shows that the HSE terminologies are too high for their level. My plan to overcome this obstacle is to speak the language at their level.

  • Best engagement method is to consult and collaborate with stakeholders.

  • Consult stakeholders through focus groups and workshops.

  • The best engagement method that Amina could use to involve and keep the parents satisfied would be through the organization of meetings with the parents to tell them how the project is solving many of the problems that their daughters are facing in addition to addressing any concerns that they might raise

  • I would invite families to some kind of "meet & greet" event (tea/snacks etc) during which background information would be given + space for Q&As; additionally, such session would help to agree on further methods of keeping them informed

  • The best engagement method would be involve, having discussions, open forums and communicating

  • Consultation and communication are the good ways of engagement and also getting informed everytime

  • And also I will preferably organize meetings for the stakeholders where there will be questions and answers on how to go about the project..I think it will be the best way of informing

  • The best engagement method that Amina could use to involve and keep the parents satisfied would be through the organization of meetings with the parents to tell them how the project is solving many of the problems that their daughters are facing in addition to addressing any concerns that they might raise

  • Ideal method will be a one on one meeting and the inclusion of a workshop, this will be easy to drive home the point.

  • Always best to understand how the stakeholders prefer to receive their information - and then design and deliver your engagement accordingly

  • Since the parents are always at work during the weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm, scheduling a meeting or open forum with the parents during weekdays would be a wrong decision. A visit to parents house so that individual parents' questions can be answered would have been the best method, but then, that will be very cost-intensive and also, it'll be time-wasting
The best engagement method to use would be setting up a meeting or an open forum with the parents on a weekend when they won't have to go to work and whereby their questions can be readily answered all at once

  • Amina should conduct families visits consultations during the evening hours probably when the families are back from their daily routine activities to solicit for a better relationship and trust that will remove barriers

  • Have a door to door interaction with family members with the help of the community leaders like Chairman or Zone leaders. This should be done on weekends or during early evening hours when parents are back from work.

  • Parents' permission is most crucial for Amina's project. The anxiety and concern of parents should first be understood appreciated and internalised. Engagement should be planned on one-to-one basis to give adequate time, privacy and attention to parents. Engagement strategy should be drawn up keeping the following factors in mind:

    1. Time, date, place: As per parents convenience. Draw up a schedule that allows enough time overflow for discussion. Reach in time. Do not leave till the last doubt is clarified to parents satisfaction.
    2. Content: Standard deck and FAQs to be finalised so that all parents can be disseminated the same information.
    3. Language: To be parents choice
    4. Manner of dissemination of standard deck: Could be PPT, Placards, Flip charts.... depending on tech savvyness of parents and facilities available at the meeting venue.
    5. Presenter of standard deck: To be knowledgeable about the project, with good communication skills and knowing parents language well
    6. Handout and FAQs to be in parents language. Verifiable testimonies to be provided
    7. The engagement team should have a senior member of the project team/ organisation to lend credibility, seriousness and gravitas.
    8. Parents should be invited to witness the project team in action by providing them necessary details.
    9. All parents with whom one-to-one is not possible for whatever reason may be requested to attend a workshop / meet- and-greet at a community centre/ convenient public place preferably on a holiday. Parents of children who are already participants may also be invited for providing live testimonies.
  • Apart from their schools there could be other strategic engagement platform that can be leveraged on, for example visiting of their homes, peer group gathering, and visiting neighborhoods among cluster families and engaging them.

  • Best engagement method is to communicate, consultation and be and get involved

  • Conduct family Visit for girls so that they keep informed about the girls involved in the project

  • I would suggest that the best way to give the information to de parents, is to do home visits. That way they will fill confortable in a private space were they can ask whatever they need. Also, they won´t have to go out in work ours.

  • Because families are busy and at work during the day, Amina can organize a workshop for them on a particular weekend.
Another method can be that when the girls are coming to the clinic they can come with their parents

  • The best engagement method is to communicate, provide information and be open and concise about the benefits

  • To start with Amina must design bulletins and fliers to reach to this families indicating the advantages of her project. Radio jingles too and more importantly she should improve on the communication

  • Open and honest consulation and conversations with all the affected parties and be sure to invite all involved in each stage as well.

  • Amina could look, visiting the various girls beneficiaries' homes. This could be over the weekends, which will actually help Amina, talk to the girls and their families together. This then creates a second avenue of interacting with the girls and women outside school and workshops respectively. It also helps Amina take the services up to the girls' and women's homes, building more trust for her services and accessibility. These can be called home visits.
To be executed well, Amina would have to draw up a plan and also have an estimate of the girls' families.

  • Conduct one on one visits to homes
    Use community center engagement

  • Home to home visit is imperative for the type of community which subjected to Roots of Health programs. Home to homes visit can build trust and engage personally with women in the community. Trust is important in establishing communication regarding reproductive issues. Home to home visit allow for in depth interview which can enable Roots of Health understand the barrier to achieve good reproductive health for these woman

  • Communication and sharing success stories, engage them as often as possible, Community meetings and use of opinion leaders would be great

  • Conduct a visit, which then will give you a chance for introductions and then build on engaging further to further elaborate and expand the first meeting by scheduling a more in-depth consultation and engagement which will involve all the relevant persons.

  • Amina can consider having a town hall meeting with families over the weekends or maintain the one on one meetings in the evening once the families retire from work. The one on one meetings should be kept short i.e. one hour since the family members are already exhausted from work

  • Best engagement method would be to inform, consult, involve, collaborate and empower those involved.

  • Improvement of excellent communication skills

  • Amina can also thing of having community clinic day, where these concerned families might have access to get to know what it is really happening in the project and what are the benefits.

  • Effective engagement would be method to inform, consult, involve, collaborate and empower those involved.

  • Get the girl's family involved by organizing a focused group discussion with all the families involved this will be cost and time effective. The focus group discussion should be done at a time convenient for both parties.

  • Amina could consider organizing community durbar or town hall meetings and allow for opinion leaders to facilitate the engagements in language that participants can understand. This means, there should be a closed-end meeting with opinion leaders or community influencers first.
Equally, she can organise one-on-one home visits to engage families at their convinience.

  • Amina should recruit and train facilitators who come from the same community with the families to be engaged. These facilitators will in turn engage the families in the evenings after work..

  • Amina will be able to spread the word, thanks to the parent, and she will be able to accommodate a lot of information about the importance of education

  • I like study with internet on the Philanthropy University

  • Conducting Town Hall meetings might be most effective way to spread the word. Meeting should include a representative from the community who supports the program and can provide some additional comfort to the families by speaking and answering questions in their language. As time permits, follow up home visits could be conducted for those who have more extensive questions or reluctance.

  • Amina should try to identify, communicate and engage her ideas more with the most influential or opinion leaders in the families or communities, which if well accepted would help to improve the number of girls attending her clinic.

  • Amina should try to identify, communicate and engage her ideas more with the most influential or opinion leaders in the families or communities, which if well accepted would help to improve the number of girls attending her clinic.

  • My engagement goal was To train 31 social welfare health workers to help mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on 1000 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their families in 9 months. However, I failed to achieve my goal because some non-reactive households were actually liaising with some dubious social health workers to declare them as reactive household in order to receive some sort of support services from the organization. My engagement review is that proper background checks were not conducted during the engagement of the social welfare health workers. My plan to overcome this obstacle is to ensure that going forward, proper background checks must be conducted before any engagement, and any worker found wanting will be dismissed immediately to serve as a deterrent for other.

  • The best engagement method for families is to have a workshop for the interested parents, create a group chat for those who have phones, and send messages to those with questions.

Amina could also have community meetings for the parents on weekends for those who are working.

  • Amina should visit parents and sell the benefits of her advocacy to them so that they can be convinced to not only let their girls participate but to also encourage and motivate them to participate.
If it will be tasking to visit parents individually, Amina should visit them in groups like in places of worship and places of cultural/ traditional gatherings. So she needs to collaborate with leaders of such places of assembly where parents gather so that they can give her the opportunity to talk to parents and convince them to encourage their girls to participate in her program.

  • Advantages could include:

When she joins forces with the public authority and they settle on the terms for coordinated effort, she would have the option to grow her compass and further develop her image notoriety.
Banding together with the public authority will permit her to make bigger surges of promotion the nation over with regards to her association and the significance of conceptive wellbeing.
New ideas or thoughts could arise about extension and improving mindfulness, when she collaborates with the public authority. Residents might treat her NGO more in a serious way whenever she has fostered an essential association with the public authority.

  • A one on one discussion at the clinic or door to door visit to the families will be the best engagement method. It will give them privacy and the families can comfortably put forth their queries. It will also support in trust development.

  • Communicating, consulting and being and getting involved are the best methods of engagement

  • Amina should conduct home visits to the families of these girls and share with them how she plans to bring these services closer to the girls and make it accessible

  • Best engagement always is one on one meetings to ensure there a clear communications and management of expectations. Then fundamentally other methods follow thereafter

  • The best way is to conduct focus group discussions with the families because they are all have questions to the services offered at focus group discussions they will vomit out all questions and answers and clarifications will be given to them.

  • I think at this point one on one communication is ideal. Considering the fact that the families work during the day 9- 5, Amina may want to consider using the weekend to visit the Families. Saturday's for one on one.

Sundays' at their religious houses, after speaking with the leaders to give them a few Minutes for awareness. Now, this brings in another stakeholder on board, which are the Religious leaders.

  • After we set the best engagement strategy, define the link between our organization mission and the stakeholders engagement , we define, analyst prioritize and execute , the stakeholders engagement plan and we choose the engagement method and level to proceed to the implementation, to inform, to advocate , to consult , to collaborate , to involve and to measure the level of engagement.

  • The best engagement method is to engage your stakeholders ,closely, by involving them in decision making and operations, find multiple ways to communicate with them with the suitable timing and in different type of communication to ease the transaction of information, to facilitate the communication and to work closely with them , in order to come out with productive results. working as a committee for an project and having direct consultancy from its members will lift and support the project toward success.

  • To engage your stakeholders closely, is the best way and effective way of engagement, with facilitating the interaction in communication, geography , timing ect... various level of engagement can be adopted along ,in order to achieve the target and commit with better results.

  • Amina can gather together the families as a community to speak to them about it or better still involve the youth advocates on a door to door exercise to the families to create awareness.

  • Engagement doesn't stop with setting goals, identifying stakeholders and mapping the stakeholders but it has to reach into planning for it and implement it to see results

  • When planning to implement engagement, the best methods must be consider so that it doesn't server only the interests of the team carrying out the engagement.
Understand the best engagement level, the best ideal methods for you and also consider the preferred methods for the stakeholders.
This way it will serve its best purpose

  • Don't forget the daily routine of your stakeholders so that you don't introduce them to things totally strange to them.
Besides that, mind of the local languages in the area, how far you gonna situate your arrangements and then the time of engagement

  • Monitor • Media and internet tracking
    • Reports
Advocate • Lobbying or pressure on regulatory bodies
    Inform • Websites and reports
    • Brochures, bulletins, letters
    • Speeches, conferences, public presentations
    Transact • Public-private partnerships
    • Grant-making
Consult • Focus groups, workshops, meetings
    • Surveys
Involve • Open forums, advisory or focus groups
    • Online engagement tools
Collaborate • Joint projects or ventures
    • Partnerships
Empower • Integration of stakeholders into governance, strategy, and operations of organization

  • Communications
    • Are there any restrictions on internet or smartphone access?
    • What methods are they most comfortable using: meeting, texts, group chat, email, phone call, or mail?
    Geography
    • Are there any restrictions on travel or location?
    • What methods are they most comfortable using: car, public transit, by foot, etc?
    Time
    • Are there any restrictions on time? (For example, do they work during the day, so they are only available for workshops at night?)
    Daily routine
    • Are you asking your stakeholder to do anything too different or inconvenient from their normal routine?

  • • One-way: this is the most basic level, where you are offering information to your stakeholder (in the form of websites, newsletters, etc), but no response is required from your stakeholder
    • Limited two-way: medium level, where you are either offering or asking your stakeholder for information, and may involve them in decision-making
    • Two- or Multi-way: highest level, where you are both holding in-depth discussions or interactions, and involving one or multiple stakeholder(s) directly in decision-making

  • • Media and internet tracking
    • Reports
    • Lobbying or pressure on regulatory bodies
    • Websites and reports
    • Brochures, bulletins, letters
    • Speeches, conferences, public presentations
    • Public-private partnerships

    • Joint projects or ventures
    • Partnerships
    • Integration of stakeholders into governance, strategy, and operations of organization

  • I think the best method of engagement for the families of these girls would be focus group discussions with family members

  • Meeting with the community head(s) to approve and allow her to organize Town hall seminar for all parents. Educated members of the community (preferably women) should be used to communicate to their fellow women (parents). The information should be well communicated in a well understood language by the majority coupled with pictorial fliers or slides that could interest the audience.

    Janet Olugbemi

  • Consultation can be best the best idea, Amina must involve family for view expression. Then engage closely by visiting those particular families.

  • Amina can benefit several benefits such as

    • Her organisation can get reputation and recognition of the work her organisation does

    • Her organization can manage to easily engage with other relevant stakehlders that are linked to the government

    • The information about the cservices offered by her organisation can be easily spread as the government has the powrful resources to communicate with community

  • Amina can get the best from stakeholders by engaging them in their best responses.

  • For Amina's engagement with families who are concerned and have questions about Roots of Health's services, before they will allow their daughters to visit the clinics, Amina should carry out advocacy to community leaders to organise a roundtable for discussion on how to allow their daughters to attend clinics or conduct a sensitization meeting in the community where she and her team can sensitize the people directly.

  • I have learnt that settling on the best engagement method for the stakeholder groups involved enhances effectiveness

  • The best engagement method is to use the most preffered one chosen by both the agency and the stakeholder so that the wont be miscommunication.

  • I advice the use of consult and inform methods

  • I agree with you

  • Consulting and communication is the best way

  • some of these methods are highly effective, and some of those I need to try in my org.

  • The best engagement method would be involved, having discussions, open forums and communicating

  • communication and involvement contributes to an effective programme

  • It would be better to have Focus Group Discussions with Families.

  • conduct meetings with the families to inform them about the project

  • I strongly agree with you

  • The communication is very important and it is the best Engagement method

  • Amina's ideal method was to use the one-on-one meeting but since stakeholders (families) work during the day from 9am to 5pm, she would have to consult on the best time available for them, and tailor her timing to suit the families on a case by case basis. Depending on the outcome of the consultation, if it would also be possible, she may tailor the engagement during the period of working so that girl's are engaged during the family work times also on a case by case basis which may involve another stakeholder
