I am very new in my work as M&E officer. In my department we collect data frequently for project monitoring, it is therefore important to store the data well to avoid data leakage. I would like to learn more safer ways to encrypt my data. So far I am using excel and other external hardwares for storage

It is best to have a member of the team who knows how to work with a database, rather than hiring a consultant, this is because the database and necessary analyzes are process in continuous construction, never end. Therefore, it is always good to have a person on the team who lives on the project and seeks technological solutions for data management.

Data management technology looking at its relationship with M&E ,data storage and management, plays more role than any other part of M&E, is associated with information technology (IT). as known data, storage and analysis plays a main role with information technology.also observed that the simplest tool for storing data is a spreadsheet. This is a digital table, often created with software like Microsoft Excel. their a lots of other examples of larger-scale databases which include Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, Oracle Cloud and MySQL. as noted that their are various ways differently to manage data with digital methods,physical file from data management,varies of different advantages listed below .
-Data can be uploaded and downloaded from nearly anywhere. Any person with the right software, hardware and account permissions can add new data or access existing data.
-Data can be easily accessed. Unlike data on a sheet of paper, the same data can be accessed by multiple people simultaneously.
looking at data management technology relationship with M&E its ease a lots work faster and aid storage and analysis of data.

Drawing from the explanation given in the lesson, i would like to agree that data management technology is very important in the Monitoring and Evaluation process because it gives an organization the upper hand over managing it data so it becomes important to have proper knowledge of information technology so as to know what steps to take to address soft ware related challenges by themselves and only in the worst case have to use the services of a consultant or an expert.

The choice of data collection and management tools should certainly be informed by cost as indicated and i would like to add that mastery of the tools used for data storage too is key as it would help in keeping information confidential and also preventing leaks that might cost the reputation of the organization or the dignity of the people from whom the information was gathered

I think about data management technology a lot in my current position, since I am generally the most tech savvy person on the team. I regularly create new tools on Microsoft Excel in order to manage and organize data, but, due to the complexity of some of the formulas, I always try to create accompanying SOPs so that fellow staff will understand how to use the documents, and they will continue to be useful if I were to leave the agency. Technical knowledge of data management technology can be exceedingly useful, but it needs to go along with some institutional knowledge to ensure that tools created today are still useful a year from now.

As we know now days Technology becomes our essential part of life day, Whenever we want to manage any data we have to keep it somewhere in our technology, like our smart phone, computers and so on.

advantages, as defined in pervious lesson the advantages of the DMT is including 1: data can be uploaded and downloaded form anywhere, it mean in former data collection system they had to go to field and discussed with the peoples who was responsible to conduct interview in order to collect data, the management utilized some resources including, paper, Car, Pen, tow or there employee and as well as more then 100 hours, but unlike these days in order to conduct data collection and by interdicting digital data collection there is no need the data collector can easily coordinate with participant and no need to utilize some resources, easily he can conduct data collection, 2: data can be easily accessed: in former system the data was collected by one person with one sheet of paper and one person had accessed with data, in digital system the data will upload in system and every one has access with data and can use it. 3: Data can be reorganized. 4 Data can be prepared for data analyze.
Some disadvantages of this approach: the system should be develop by an intelligent person and also he must provide an orientation to M&E employee in order to utilize this system for data collection and data management, otherwise if the system developer hair based on consultancy and might don't have sufficient knowledge of online database developing your data security will be in danger and its better to use Excel or any other applications in order to manage the data.

Now a days, things come under experience that organization are comfortable to use cloud data management services like Google, Ms. Office by which all the issues related with the down or uploading, accessing, managing and securing the data are being sorted out. In addition to this, many services are available in the market at affordable costs for rendering their services for all these issues related with the data base management

It is important to carry out an audit of your IT if you are to effectively and efficiently use digital technology in data management. This audit should include:

• Hardware: What physical hardware devices do you need to manage your data? Which ones do you already have?

• Software: What are your software requirements? Which ones do you already have? And which ones do you need to acquire?

• Skills: Do we have the skills required to use the digital technology? If there are gaps, how will we address the skill gaps?

This internal assessment will help you in preparing your team and/or organization to manage data using digital technology.

It will be expensive to hire consultant, but your project have big pool of data maybe you need to consider it. Factor in the cost to your project management cost.

It's better to have data management technology which will lead to a better evaluation but some of the organizations don't understand how important it is and they don't consider this as an important element to rely on because it often requires a separately budget.

Data can be easily accessed from anywhere, downloaded anywhere and displayed in various form understandable to many users. It however comes with risks, especially if the storage media is attacked by viruses, or hardware gets damaged. The Data Management Technology can be expensive and the reliance on other people for maintenance pauses another risk as the sensitive data can five it self in wrong hands, hence compromising on confidentiality.
