My name is Zaima, I have been working program management in various capacities with international and national organization. Basing on the nature of program, for example Relief project, I do start with needs assessment of the target communities to identify the problem that the community facing. then start community and local government engagement, explaining the finds of the needs assessment, I do conduct local government and community consultation how best we can together address the burning issue of the target community. Then we look into the key indicators and expected immediate output after program intervention, the outcome and the impact of the long run. The planning part is most critical part in program design. The Monitoring and evaluation and learning is also a key for the program design to put place a smart M&E plan including base-line and End-line survey, community involvement at the very beginning is key in the first stage of program design to attract the program ownership of the community to be served who might provide valuable in put.
If the program recovery, it will be started with feasibility and market assessment before I design the program to inform the past interventions, and available resources to build upon the new designed project to avoid duplication and overlapping. The recovery projects needs more information of the context you are working on, sound M&E framework which clear indicators and KIP to be prepared well, program sustainability and exit strategy should also be considered, and before start the implementation, inclusive validation workshop is essential.

  • Hi everyone! My name is Sarah. I am French and I have been working as project development and management specialist in various countries in Africa and Central Asia. Lately I managed a large girls' education consortium in Afghanistan where I was in charge, among others, of overseeing the M&E team. I was very involved in designing the M&E approach including developing the logframe, reporting on project progress through indicator achievement and managing third-party evaluations from midline to endline surveys. I currently work as a consultant from Seoul in South Korea and I want to use some of my free time to specialize more in M&E and later go into more specific research skills involving research design, qualitative and quantitative data analysis through Stats etc. I hope this course will be a good first step for more general M&E knowledge before diving into specifics. Looking forward to some interesting discussions!

    Hi Ronnel,
I actually have no experience at all in any of these either non profit or simply as a social worker ever in my life, but i do agree with you by identifying the need by focusing on the people (we are the destroyer and the creator at the same time), i guess what we all need are just simply the acceptance and the appreciation as a creative being, by compassionately observe, support and guide them to think, design and build their own community freely being themselves, and naturally developed in responsible and sustainable way on its process in time. I'm just a learner here, i might be totally wrong. Thank you

Wow, Agban i have been in project for a white some time. but project management requires patience and innvation. they are times you can have good i deas that they can move on and bring a change in a society but you see that you dnt knw how to execute the project operations even on how to communicate with Donor. so the first thing is what we have been tough on this training that we need to have good communitcation skills with donors. but before donor develop the project by finding a problem, changing a problem into a question, finding ways of dealing with the question ( problem statement), develop your objective on dealing with the problem identify a place you will do the project in mention. How much will it cost to manage the project, these steps will guide you in project management.

I also live in Johannesburg i am tempted to think the power cuts are political...its the strategy to make the ANC unpopular as the election is approaching.South Africa has everything it takes not only to create stable power supply but also to maintain it.

Thank you very much Mr Ronnel. Your. Points are real and I also think they are actually the points of scratch. However, I want to add that most of use who are beginners has a lot of questions rating from: "after identifying the problems, how can I mobilize the people for their supports towards solving the problem?, why how do I even start the program and many more questions.
Sir as an expert in the field, kindly look at the above questions and do justice to them. Thanks
