  • Weekly Welcome 15-OCT-2018 for Marketing, Communications, and PR

    Hello @all!

Each week, we welcome new members and connect with continuing members of the Marketing, Communications, and PR community of practice so we have our own network for learning and improving the civil society work we do.

Let’s meet some of the people doing good work around the world!

    Reply and tell us:
    1. What does your organization do? And where are the people you help?

    2. How are you preparing now to meet your goals for the end of 2018?

    3. What books, articles, or websites should people know about to become better at marketing or communications?

We are so happy to have you here! You can come here when you need support in with Marketing, Communications, and PR and we encourage you to come back and help others with their challenges when you can.

For you who have been here, please reply to people who are new and introducing themselves. This is our way of building a welcoming digital space together.

Hello everyone. My name is Rose and I am based in Kenya with frequent travel. Below are my answers to the questions from @ScottM

    1. What does your organization do? And where are the people you help?
My organization is a conservation non-profit whose ultimate goal is to conserve the environment for people and nature. We aim to work in the most biodiverse parts of the world with national organizations, advocate globally for policy development and implementation and to ensure that people are part of the solution.
    1. How are you preparing now to meet your goals for the end of 2018?
We are working with the UN and other organizations in pushing for a New Deal for Nature and People, this is designed along the thinking of the climate policy where countries committed to making climate change an important national strategic approach. We hope that this will be taken into the year 2020 where private sector will also commit to making the deal to secure world heritage site, indigenous people's rights and wildlife are in harmony with our ambitious development goals.
    1. What books, articles, or websites should people know about to become better at marketing or communications?
My long term reads and re-reads are
Brand and Branding, a publication from the Economist
Made to Stick by the Heath brothers
Sapien. A brief history of mankind by Yuval Harari
