As of January 2022, 254 cases of measles were confirmed in Nigeria. In full year 2020, there were over 9,000 of such cases in the country.
According to the World Health Organization, in 2018, about 140,000 people died from measles worldwide. The majority of deaths are registered in countries with low income and weak health facilities. Measles is considered as one of the most contagious diseases.
