    Good Morning!

I’m Bang Geonzon. I’m from Novaliches, QC and am a BPO professional but currently on leave from the workforce to complete my graduate studies. I am residing outside of the PH but will be back by end of this year. I joined this community because of a childhood dream of forming a charitable foundation. I am looking at building a library and arts center in my mom’s hometown in Anda, Bohol in the next 3-5 years, and need this course to help me in making this plan a reality.

I’m glad to see a PH community here and I hope to learn from each of you. I’ll be happy to extend help also wherever and whenever possible.

Welcome Bang! Great to have you here. What a beautiful goal you have of building a library in your mother's hometown. What are you studying for your graduate studies?

Also, if you have any resources / websites / files that you think will be valuable to other Filipino CSOs, I encourage you to share them in the best practices post :)

  • Hi All!

My name is Krizel and I work for a corporate foundation whose focus is on education, through scholarship and supporting Alternative Learning System Community Learning Centers. More recently, we have been actively promoting disaster awareness and preparedness through 2 programs called "Rapido" and OurHelp. The former is a volunteer corps who aims to provide immediate disaster response especially in calamity-stricken areas, while the latter is a microinsurance donation website (www.ourhelp.org) which aims to provide protection to the members of vulnerable communities in the Philippines by giving them a chance to bounce back after a major calamity/accident. It is available for local and international individual/corporate donors, and people are free to check the website to view the profiles of donees who they might want to insure.

Looking for potential partners for the programs :)

Glad to meet your acquaintance everyone!

  • Hi, My name is Frances and I work as a cultural officer at a diplomatic mission focusing on creating projects to raise cultural awareness and art appreciation through festival and exhibition. My section handles programs, costings, marketing, designs and write-ups for all cultural initiatives, including external partnership. As it is a small unit which only has an Ataché and myself, it is an overwhelming tasks to handle different simultaneous projects at the same time. On top of my day job, I am also part of an INGO that handles different projects, but the difference would be that INGO has sections for resource, marketing, implementation and finance.

    Glad to meet you all.

  • Hi everyone! My name is Kristoff. I'm on my final stretch of college. I'll be graduating soon this December with a bachelor's degree in literature (yay more sleep!). It has become my dream to work for an NGO; to serve the underprivileged people who have been wronged, abused, and whose dignity and innocence have been robbed from them. I don't know how I became so suddenly passionate about this but I think my course--through the people I met and the books I've read--opened my eyes to the actual world. I became more socially aware and involve. I also have this belief that through literature we can empower and liberate the youth so they can do the same to others, as it did to me. However, I am still practically new on the inner workings of an NGO. The same reason why I enrolled here. To grow my knowledge, skills and experiences. Even, I'm planning to take up a masteral course on community development or whatnot. But I don't know. I'm still actually torn. The other side of me, the creative side, wants to continue on the career path that led me to my course. Anyway, I think I have said enough. Thank you for this opportunity. I hope to meet all of you and learn from everyone here! Salute to you all for wanting to create impact and change!

  • I am Ruben G. Tecson, a CPA and computer programmer and semi-retire in Cebu City. I have enrolled three (3) courses of this P University . • Hello everyone! I am Joseph Gabriel Educado and I am joining from Silay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. I am a young public elementary school teacher and a former Teacher to the Indigenous People (TIP) for the Sibato Bukidnon Tribal Community. Aside from being a public school teacher, I am also a co-founder of the regional chapter of YOUTeacH Philippines - Negros Island - a movement of young teachers committed to helping preserve each other’s ideals and pursue each other’s dreams. Under this organization, my team was able to conceptualize and put into motion our flagship project called, "Mission BridCon (Bridging Connections)" with an aim to bridge connections between and among LGUs, private institutions or agencies and public schools for the sustainable development of students and even (young) teachers to give solutions on the existing issues in the field of education through the provision of learning materials, school supplies, training for teachers, guidance and counselling, sports development, healthcare, and livelihood programs. Thus, teacher’s capacity and ability to educate is nearly relative to a student’s capacity and ability to learn.

Concurrently, being a fellow in the Future Bridging Leaders Program 2 (FBLP 2) of the Asian Institute of Management, I am also undertaking prototyping of my community project called, " Payag Kahirup" (Hiligaynon words for "house" and "unity" respectively). It is a social venture involving the tribal women of the Sibato Bukidnon Tribal Community in collaboration with the IP teachers of Sibato Integrated School which seeks to empower and build the capacities of the tribal women to combat poverty and malnutrition of their children through the project's 5 phases - Education & Awareness, Livelihood Training, Leadership & Management Training, Business Establishment, and Monitoring & Evaluation. This project is now in motion and will be pitched this coming January 2019 to potential funders at AIM.

Hi Jordan, great to have you in the community, i am aware of the JCI and it's great to know that you want to focus on YOUTH. EMPOWERMENT and VOTERS EDUCATION. For advocacy methods and practices, allow me to share some thoughts:
    a. The role of Social Media Platforms to advocate your cause, share events and influence followers.
    b. Use ISSUE BASED APPROACH. Stick with the issue. Identify the problem and cause of the problem. Find solution and implement those solution.
    c. DOCUMENT. take videos, photos and share impact stories of your project or advocacy.

Hope this would help you out. Feel free to initiate questions. Have a great day.

  • Hello sa lahat. I'm Ria, a (struggling) freelancer from Manila. I joined this community mainly because I want to gain more knowledge and skills to help our ministry, YAC. I'm a coordinator who provides support to our directors to plan and implement projects for the group. I'd like to help raise funds and make a more sustainable organization. We have regular activities and our biggest is the annual retreat where we facilitate activities for the young people. It'll be our 20 year anniversary soon and it's a big help if we can extend our reach to others within the community. Thank you.

    Hi everyone,

Welcome to the Philippines community of practice! My name is Jason and I’m a community manager here at Philanthropy University.

Please use this topic to introduce yourselves to everyone else in the community. What is your name? Where do you live? Where do you work? What is your role? Why did you choose to join this community?

Hello everyone. I am Glen Dela Cruz from Makati City, Philippines. I work for the Embassy of Panama as Executive Secretary to the Ambassador. I decided to join this community to expand my network and to learn new things that will enhance my skills and knowledge.

    Hi Glen. Can we collaborate?

Hi, My name is Frances and I work as a cultural officer at a diplomatic mission focusing on creating projects to raise cultural awareness and art appreciation through festival and exhibition.

Hi I wonder if you're still around. open for collaboration?

Welcome @reydaguitera! Great to have you as the first member of the Philippines community of practice :)

Can you share some about yourself with the community? Where in the Philippines do you live? What sort of work does Bakhita Canossa Foundation do? What is your role?

I think this is related to the catholic organization in Tagaytay. They help so many
