Human rights standards in most African countries is never maintained. The peak to this violation is in the prisons. In prisons you have inmates awaiting trial for 20yrs without hope or help on an alleged crime with maximum sentence of 2yrs if convicted. imprisoned children with their convicted mothers are made to take adult drugs(if any) when sick from the hostile, dehumanizing and depressing prison conditions, Poor sanitary state as a result of lack of water and standard sewage system, empty vocational centers in most(painting a challenging future) no special attention or facilities for handicapped or facilities for the mentally ill inmates and many more. As a result of slow judiciary system and law enforcement brutality over 75% of inmates are awaiting trial detainees. which is very alarming and calls for urgent attention.
