If your organization does not have a board of directors yet:
Will you set a fundraising expectation for your board members? Why or why not? Are there any downsides to your approach?
I'm in the starting phase of forming a nonprofit, including selecting my board members. Yes, I will have expectations of fundraising for my board members. From my research into what it takes to run and start a nonprofit, the fundraising is critical in getting funds for your programs and services that will be offered to your target audience. When I created my bylaws and articles of incorporation I mentioned how the board members will participate in fundraising and I want to make sure that the individuals that I select to volunteer will have different expertise in all areas.
I don't see any downsides to having fundraising expectations, it's not going to be a main focus but part of the functions that make the organization run. I want the main focus on the programs and services and the people it will help in achieving their goals.
