In Module 1, you learned about the nine-part framework and lift. Lift, the amount of improvement that you create in the lives of your beneficiaries, is a crucial element of success for social impact work.
In a discussion post below, please respond to the following question:
Think about your organization or an organization that you would like to work for. What lift is your organization achieving or trying to achieve?
After responding, please reply to at least one other learner and respond to their ideas.
Lift is how much impact you can achieve with your plan/effort than without.

Ghana is a West African country reach in natural resources such as gold, diamond and recently oil. The extractive sector especially gold and diamond have lots of small scale miners in the value chain and it appears to be a traditional job for host communities. The sector employs mainly youth and women and other auxiliary small enterprises both in the formal and informal sector. The small scale mining sector has long being a source of income and many livelihoods revolves around it. The government of Ghana in recent years have launch a ban against small scale mining owning to the extent of degradation to land and pollution in our water bodies caused largely by the activities of small scale miners.
LIFT is defined as the level of improvement a program achieves per beneficiaries. I am looking forward to working with an organisation involved in livelihood enhancement and diversification for youth engaged in illegal mining in the Western region of Ghana. The proposed mission for this program could be: to increase the number of youth with employable skills for job creation. Inputs for this program will be (a)entrepreneurial and technical skills training by business development entities. the output could be the (a)number of youth with entrepreneurial and technical skills training and (b) the number of business development organisations delivering training (c) number of youth establishing own businesses (d) percentage increase in sales and production after 2 years of business start-up.
In our organization, the lift we had was correct was the emotional, labor and spiritual development of our workers (tailors), however, after passing this first unit I think we could make some changes in order to identify this more easily. Although these variables are identifiable through the use of tests and the change can be really visible in the workplace and in the family nucleus, we could see that at the beginning of a certain time interval, goals are set, at the end of the period of time, they measure how many of these goals are be
ing met and why.

In my organization we aim to improve living conditions of people living in the poorest slums in Lima. We build prefabricated houses and staircases. Measurements we use are number of staircases we build, amount of families with access to it, number of houses we build. I am trying to figure out other metrics I could use to show how this infrastructure improves their lives as it achieves to give them to get a better quality of life so that they can worry about other things such as getting a job but the margin of change in their quality of life is hard to measure. We also do other projects such as helping children with their education and fomenting values in them or clothing sales at a very accesible price just so that they buy only what they need.

I find it great that education you give is not the same for every child but rather you aim to uncover each child's skills. I suggest you can measure this through attendance rates, gradings, or by surveying the kids every certain amount of months so you can know if the feel confident in using and developing their skills and or if they have figured out what are these skills each are good at.
In our organization we help the poorest among the poor families and also those belonging in the poverty line achieve financial independence by engaging them to a livelihood program and educating them how to save for their future.

Yes this can be improved but firstly i think ways of performing should be improved then only we can give participation to females if i talk about indian girls .she has to manage everything , her personal life and family life so she can't deal with this all in one time so participation should be done only if she wants to work permanent which is means not less than 3 years .Then only she should apply for this. This will helpful for her only. If she is working here upto 3years or more by choice then she can further go for best jobs as per her work experience counted .

The mission statement of the organization is to work with communities - as partners - to promote human transformation, improvement of child well-being within vulnerability aspects. The four main aspects for improvement are health, education, economic and child protection.
The LIFT of the organization is basically formed, based on the result of the pre-assessment of the certain area of development (the organization work in several areas of development). Some area might need to focus on health and sanitation. While in other areas might need different programme such as Economic (through family approach), Education and also Child Protection.
One of example, a health and sanitation program applied in one area of development, the Lift is to eliminate open defecation in some area, specifically coastal areas.
