Hi, I am Alexandra from Brazil. I believe that books can change lives and I am working hard on gifting Brazilian students brand new literacy books at www.1book4life.com. 1BOOK4LIFE is a great place to work! We are currently setting up a nonprofit organization in the US to raise money for buying literacy books to our students in Brazil (most of them have never, ever, been gifted books before); the organization name is Holistica Foundation. That's why my colleagues and I are taking these courses. We've just finished one of them and we are very excited to keep learning (and raising money!). My current role in the 1BOOK4LIFE Program is Communications Manager (I handle the communications with donors, social media, press, and so on). I am looking forward to meeting you! Hopefully, we will be able to exchange knowledge and experiences so we can grow together. #BooksChangeLives

fundraising was not easy at the first year because every Donor need financial report some needs audit report of which without getting any funding you can get this but we manage it through our membership subscription , fundraising is not easy topic because Donors some time they are so selective but once you succeed in any its just keep on flowing
-the first principal of buying Donors interest is to be well prepare with answer to all their question,
-you should be creative ,not to copy any objective because they first compare you with other organization ,
    -you should have good capacity
    -you should be honest enough
-Never show to Donors any risk or sign of being unsuccessful in the projects you need donation for

  • Hello Everyone. My name is Essau Elly from Kenya, working with Eldoret Women For Development (ELWOFOD). I work here as a reformer, role model and provide legal representation to women in court for fair hearing . ELWOFOD is women based Organization founded by 2 women ex-inmates in Eldoret Langas Slum who had been convicted for 6 years for a crime they did not commit with an aim of enhancing reentry of women Ex-inmates into their communities through economic skill development. Many wish to become law abiding citizens and have the best intention of living a conventional life yet most have few job skills, lack a formal education, and experience discrimination in housing and job markets because of their felony records. WOES –“Walking on Egg Shells” seeks to break this cycle by providing agribusiness skills and financial literacy training for women ex-prisoners when they are released. Project WOES seeks to build community, not more women prisons. I am hereby looking to learn more about fundraising and possibly find a partner who can fund our course to give our beneficiaries a more dignified life.

I am Michael Ochieng Nyawino, a Kenyan living in Kitale, Kenya. I'm the Executive Director of a young NGO called Christian Community Healthcare Foundation- Kenya (COHECF KENYA). I joined this community so that I can learn on how to Fundraize and Mobilize resources for the NGO. I had launched a fundraizing campaign at Gogetfunding.com but it has not been successful still hoping to get more funders to visit the link: https://gogetfunding.com/teenage-mothers-skills-training-project/ and help us with the campaign.

I would be happy to learn a lot on fundraising and resource mobilization to make me grow the organization.

Looking forward to talking to many people here.

    Regards,
    Michael.

  • Thank you SCOTTM,
welcome @COHECFKENYA2017, is nice to have you join the community.
i guess your story line is order, to specific terminologies that is eye catching to donors across board.
look at the following steps from my own perspective.

NEVER use the words “could,” or “would.” Always use “will” and “can,” because you are SURE that you will get the money and CONFIDENT that you can do what you say you will.
DON’T use jargon, unless you know that everyone reading your grant is in your field (for instance, a Department of Education grant). Use plain language, sixth grade rule. Even a word like “articulate” used to talk about making 2 + 2’s will not be understood by Mrs. Viejita Moneybags, in that context, unless you explain it.
DON’T use too many acronyms. Think of a better way to do it, and reiterate the full name of something, with the acronym after it in parentheses if you haven’t used it in several pages, or if you’ve only used it once before.
Check your SMART Goals to make sure they aline with your project objectives, SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ACTIONABLE, REALISTIC, TIME-BOUND. make your project have goals included in it, then choose the right platform for your campaign in the fundraising.

please check if this tips are included in the fund raising campaign you lunched and make inclusion were needed. thank you
this is my own submission, you can still consult higher professional.

Additionally, Angaza Elimu encourages children to further engage with technology with an Interactive e-learning platform that challenges them to think critically. We also offer supplemental training on STEAM to plant the seed of innovativeness in the young African learner.

I choose to enroll in this course because I want to create a program that helps people in my community. I'm still working in defining what would be the best idea for that program that would help the most. At this point what I'm clear is that this program will be made to help women empowerment through leadership programs for a long term, specially those who are mothers head of households with children.
I hope to gain the basic knowledge to start this program and to get inspired by those who are already involved and working for institutions that help vulnerable communities.

Hi Alexandra. I am moved by your post. • Hi everyone. I am Aftab Ahmed Awan from Pakistan. I am working as CEO of Society for Sustainable Development, which is a national NGO in Pakistan. Our focus areas are human rights, gender equality and gender justice and young engagement and empowerment. We are working with a couple of donors and implementing projects in different parts of the country. Personally my areas of expertise include: SRHR, Child Rights and and child protection and organizational development. I have joined this community in order to learn more about fund raising and resource mobilization. I feel that my organization needs to broaden its resource base. We have to improve our fund raising capacity. we have not yet succeeded in generating corporate funding and are heavily reliant on international donors, which in my opinion is not sustainable. I am hoping to learn more about fundraising from corporate sources and help my organization to become more sustainable and strong.

  • Hi everyone, my name is Jane Sloan and I am British but live and work in Ecuador in South America. I own a wildlife reserve and a wildlife rehabilitation centre. I am working with wildlife rescued by the Ministry of the Environment from illegal trafficking. My work is voluntary and I rely entirely on donations to keep going. I am working with many different species such as Howler monkeys, Spider monkeys, Capuchin monkeys, sloths, ocelots, anteaters, kinkajous, otters, parrots, macaws, turtles, snakes, iguanas to name a few!! The situation is quite desperate at times and through lack of money I cannot always receive all the animals that need help. My job is to get as many animals back into the wild as possible - the majority are released onto the reserve so they are protected. Some animals take a very long time to develop the skills to go back into the wild especially if they are raised from tiny baby. Funds are needed constantly for food, medical supplies, equipment, enclosures, enrichment etc etc etc!! I am loving the courses that I am doing on Philanthropy University because they are really helping me to focus on the best ways to raise money and how better to approach potential donors - thank you Philanthropy Uni!!!
